All-in-One Travel Power Plug Adapter for US, UK, EU, AU

Works as advertised, well engineered
I purchased this item in anticipation of our vacation to Europe, with stops in Germany and in England. The unit worked well in both locations - I had no problems using it to power my laptop and recharge my iPhone. It came with a small storage bag as well, which was reasonably well made, and protects the unit from grit & etc. It is small, about the size of a typical wall-plug power supply, though not as heavy: easy to pack! The usage of the adapter is very straightforward: pick out the appropriate plug you need for your current location on the front of the adapter, then plug your unit into the correct jack on the back. It is a two way Adapter, allowing you to adapt in either direction. (From any country's standard to any other, for the standards supported by the unit.) As an added bonus, the unit is also a "surge protector" - though I cannot vouch for its capabilities in this area, as we had no problems with surges during our trip. The unit arrived from the vendor (Dreambargains) within a couple of days, much faster than what was promised. All in all, a good unit, sold at a good price. I have seen some reviews here which say the unit is "cheap-feeling" and "prone to breaking" --- I would disagree. It seems reasonably robust, given its' intended use, though I wouldn't recommend flinging it around or twisting the prongs (when extended). I'll give it five stars: it does what it is intended to do, is well engineered, and all at a reasonable price.

Good product
Nice compact design with carrying case. The only problem, as noted by others, is that (at least using the European prongs), the adapter has a tendency to fall out of the socket if enough weight is on it. Otherwise, a great, cheap product.

Worked for a few days then shorted and blew my hotel room fuse
This adapter worked initially, but it must of had poor wiring. Sometimes I'd plug it in and the red LED would not light. Plug it in again and it worked... I was only using this with 100-240V range AC adapters for a netbook / camera charger. After a few days it decided to short across the US side of the adapter (interesting as I was in the UK and not even able to plug in that side). It blew the fuse in our hotel room in fact (thankfully it didn't destroy the camera charger). We ended up buying a Samsonite UK travel adapter in a WH Smith over there which works perfectly (I guess it's simpler as it only works in the UK)...

Doesn't fit most European plugs
I can't claim to have personally tried every single outlet in Europe, but I can tell you that the majority of European plugs are recessed: that is, the actual socket into which the plug prongs go is set into a little round hole about half an inch deep. This adapter does not fit into that recess, and is therefore useless. I found this out the hard way in both Holland and the Czech Republic, and great was the wailing and lamentation on both occasions. You can use this with an extender built for the purpose (see the Simran Plug Adapter on this site for an example), but if you're doing that, why not just get an adapter that fits in the first place?
