Reviews:
The cure for pre-holiday blahs I'm eager to add my rave reviews for this collection. I grew up listening to the Minstrels' "Merry Christmas!" album -- every year, it was a welcome part of the tree-trimming tradition, and reinforced the holidays' various moods -- festive, commercial, sentimental, spiritual. Sorry, but I can't agree with reviewers who claim this music is trite or contradictory; it's from an earlier time, to be sure, but one where holiday music was truly creative and sincere -- not the tired covers of Christmas music we find today, accented with a hip-hop beat or country twang. No, this is the real thing. I've lovingly preserved each of these tunes in my memory, and have since made them part of my own family's tradition. Each song in this collection is an ornament on the musical holiday tree that represents Christmas; I only wish everyone could own this CD -- it would make their holidays much merrier! A Delightful and Cheerful CD I have had this CD in 33 RPM format for many years and almost wear it out each Christmas Season. I was delighted to get it in CD formatIt is a delight and fun. It cheers up those that listen. Buy it! Family tradition The music on this CD is a family tradition at Christmas. It is unique and most enjoyable for all ages. Classic Music that doen not age! Christy Minstrel's were a sixties band. This Christmas collection I grew up listening every year. It brings me great memories of Christmas' past. For someone hearing it for the first time will bring you such joy for the season, it really is up-beat and very well done! It is a must. If you like their style check out their non-seasonal music as well. Blast from the past! These are the songs I listened to when I was a little kid. It's so much fun to hear them again. The sound quality is surprisingly good. |
