No bugs, freeze ups or crashes for me. Good software.
I've seen comments on some sites complaining of crashes and freeze ups. Not the case for me. It works great. It took me a while to find video editing software that works well with a 64 bit system. This software is running on an i7 core 920 chip with 6000 mg of ram. No complaints! This is a good product.

If You Need HD Video, It's Good -- Otherwise, Stick With What You Have
I love tinkering with new software. It's always exciting to see what new features are added to old favorites, or to discover a totally new program that gives me new features or help me out. However, with the new release of VideoStudio Pro X2 from Corel I can't see that many new features that interest me -- after using this for two months I am left with the question, "Just WHY would I need to upgrade to this version?" Of course the answer to that question is because of high definition video. Good answer, but the truth of the matter is that HD is just not catching on -- yet. It's technology that is slightly ahead of its time. even Blu-Ray adoption is mediocre, as most people find that regular definition video is doing them just fine. So when it comes to homemade video and productions one has to wonder what the big rush is to produce content in HD that will, in all likelyhood, be viewed on regular definition devices or uploaded to the 'net that will be compress it down to a more manageable size and form. The program itself has many of the same features as the previous version, with the only real big change being added support for HD. It's still got a lot of the quirks that the previous version had as well -- not exactly easy to use, and requires a lot of tinkering to get the basics down. If you have anything short of a Core2 machine then you might want to pass this up as it will take a lot of processing power to convert videos and to use the program effectively. Honestly, I would say that unless you have a burning desire to go HD you can get most of the features you will need for video editing from Windows Movie Maker -- a freebie from Microsoft. No, you won't get all the bells and whistles -- but come on, how often do we use all those bells and whistles? Most of us just want to store our home movies in a digital format. The bottom line is this. If you need HD, this is a good choice -- albeit it with a learning curve. For the rest of us, stick with the older version and skip the upgrade or just use the free Windows Movie Maker.

Challenging for Me but Great Software Item to Have!
I have a "flip" video camera which I love and use frequently. This excellent program by Corel, the VideoStudio Pro X2, suits me well for editing. To be honest I do not use the many aspects of it which are offered for more than that, as yet. I expect that I will slowly segue into adding to my repertoire of visual effects with the assistance of the excellent manual included, which is massive (200 pages!) but truly helpful and worthwhile. I don't want to sound pompous but I think that nothing compares to the fascination of real motion when you are documenting the magic that is life. Corel has created a wonderful software product to enhance the enchantment, when you are ready, of the wonders which surround you. Whether these wonders are simply your daily family life, a special event such as a wedding, or a holiday, it is all so great to see in motion, as demonstrated by the fascination many of us have for YouTube--which this program can help you with, if you wish. I used this during the recent Holiday season and I now have memories which I honestly feel are way more exceptional than I could have achieved previously, thanks to this software, the Corel StudioVideo Pro X2. Furthermore, I am much more encouraged to imagine that I can master high quality videos with the help of this software than I had been previously. I was so in the dark-- and now I see a light at the end of the tunnel, with this product. :) I am really glad I own Corel's VideoStudio Pro X2!. I recommend it. I expect, (albeit slowly, because none of this is my strong point), to learn how to use it to enhance my videos and edit them in a really "professional manner", eventually. It will be a while before I get everything out of it that it offers, because it offers a LOT! Finally I also think that it is reasonably priced and worth the money. Give it a try! You might be pleasantly surprised at what you can accomplish, just as I was! I plan to keep working at it, too. Anything which stretches my imagination always intrigues me enough to keep at it. This software does exactly that.

Not for New guys Unless
Why buy this product? Very sophisticated. Relative ease of use if you are computer literate and have some knowledge of earlier glitches and failures. To use it it appears the user needs more than the minimums identified. A fast processor and lots of memory storage, oh yeah and maybe a dedicated computer? See the many reviews and the pros and cons written by users to share their experiences and enlightenment. I believe the wizard is a great tool. the book is meant to inform, and this is a tool that requires practice to use. We all run into problems so dedicate your time, your machine, and be patient.

Does the Trick
I have used a lot of videosuites over the years and there is very little that can set them apart from themselves. Corel VideStudio Pro X2, is just one of the pack. There is nothing overtly special or horrible about this product. I like the features of the drive and it reads discs quieter than other programs. But at the same time it lacks a time duration function which is something I used a lot.
