space bags suck
Great in theory, dismal failure in execution. I tried these once before, the main problem is that they dont stay sealed, air escapes and they become nothing more than overpriced plastic bags. The luggage size, non-vacumn sealed rolled variety dont work at all. The vacumn sealed larger bag sizes arent much better. Of my previously purchased set, I have only one bag that survived my move sealed, flat and intact.
My new place has limited storage so I gave it another try. Now, its 1:22am, I've been fighting with a brand new pack for several hours. I have the floor littered with 6 large stuffed bags. I've tried re-vacumning and resealing and even duct taping - they plump right back up! I give up!!! Never again. Just use garbage bags. The only benefit is that you can see whats inside and that it is a thick, sturdy plastic bag.
These Extra-Large bags worked
I bought a package of 2 of these Extra-Large space bags, and a package of 2 Large. The Large did not stay deflated for more than a day, but the Extra-Large are still good, a month later. So I really don't know what to say, I guess everyone has to try them once. If you do try them, get the Extra-Large.
Works as decribed--but follow the directions and beware of mold.
I bought these bags to make some room in a guest bedroom closet. The closet was overtaken by the fluffiness of pillows and comforters, and these bags seemed a good solution.
I've given the bags 4 stars because they do what they promise, but not perfectly. For example, I have yet to achieve that perfectly rectangular, flattened shape that is shown on the package. Getting close to that image requires at least one other person sort of guiding the shape of the thing as you vacuum out the air. For the price, this is maybe not such a big deal, except that if you envision stacking or lining up your flattened bedding, it won't be quite as flat and pretty as in the image.
The directions do warn that any items put in the bags should be COMPLETELY dry. I THOUGHT my pillows were completely dried when I put them in the bag. I washed them before storing them, and dried them on high heat for a long time. Unfortunately, perhaps because of the summer humidity, after a week, I see little gray mold spots all over them. So those four pillows will have to be tossed--that's one way to save space.
Note: The medium-sized bags DO flatten out into nice little, rectangular bundles.
ok
I found good use for the bag I was able to salavage as one had a slow leak. I have not used it long term yet so I can not say how it is.
Believe the Bad Reviews
I bough several of these bags to use for bedding and stuffed animals during a move. My kids and I had seen the commercials and were excited to try them out when packing for our move. Out of the ten bags we bought (sizes Extra Large and Giant), only one bag remained vacuumed. None of the rest of them would stay sealed. I actually had better results by using my vacuum to suck the air out of a plastic garbage bag then tying the top. Those bags remained sealed and cost a fraction of what these bags cost.
