Prodcut Description: [More Information ...]
A delightful tool to help kids learn their letters, Richard Scarry's Best ABC Video Ever finds Busy Town pals Huckle and Lowly Worm discovering that it's Alphabet Day at school. Their teacher, Miss Honey, invites her students to join in a spirited rendition of "The Alphabet Song." Next comes a series of 26 vignettes developed around each letter and cleverly intertwined with Sergeant Murphy's investigation into the mystery of some stolen bananas. Simple, sweet, and as entertaining as it is instructive, this production exemplifies the great care put into the Richard Scarry video series. --Tom Keogh

Educational, Entertaining and Encouraging!
Have you been looking for media that is educationally sound, stimulating to a child's fun side yet not as brash as most of today's "children's" media... Look no more! I recommend any of the Richard Scarry's media, books included. I have many of them and my children (ages 10, 5 and now my 4month old) enjoy them. They are not as bright, fast paced, or new age as Sesame Street's Elmo, Dora and other popular media today. They are calm, low toned, and have a level of silliness that is good natured and simple. No one will be hurt, belittled, ridiculed or doing something that we wouldn't want our youngens mimicking. In short I believe it is "old fashioned" and that is just what my children and I love about it. This particular video (Best ABC Video Ever!) we've watched many times as we are continuing phonics and early reading. What I enjoy most about it is at the end when they sing the alphabet song, Huckle sings slow enough so that children can sing out each letter correctly.
My ten year old pointed out the different voices used for the characters, they are silly and captivating. My five year old was saying the phonics and drawing the letters on his dry erase board as the video played on. It isn't a long video, but does go slow enough that you can do some "teaching" as it plays.
Please enjoy this video with your child(ren); you won't regret it. (Check your local library for a copy to borrow for free).
very cute video
i found this at a second hand store for, best 25 cents i've ever spent! after two years of watching it, my 4 yo still loves it. it's cute, silly and funny just like everything richard scarry!
Richard Scarry's Best ABC Video
I already have this video but wanted another one for my grandchildren to have at their own home or to lend to my grandson's kindergarten class. It is a wonderful way to teach and see the alphabet. I have two of Richard Scarry's videos and both of them are educational and entertaining. The children ask to see them all the time!
Fabulous! Why don't they put this out on DVD again?
As expected, my 2 year old can't get enough of Richard Scarry. My older four boys watched the Scarry videos when they were younger. When they outgrew them, I sold them in a garage sale. Enter baby #5, a total surprise. When I decided to re-buy these for him, I discovered they were no longer available. VHS copies are easy to come by used, but used DVDs cost a fortune. I'm buying one at a time over a period of a few months so as not to break the bank. Worth every penny, though. We don't watch television around here, but my 2 year old is spellbound every time I turn this on. He's recognizing all of his letters, too, which makes me feel better about turning this video every now and again.
incredibly simple, my kids love it
This video is very simple in production and very well done. Very simple in message with a fun storyline that will create conversation with you and the kids. Our one year old son watches this video throughout, everytime we play it.
This video is a must have for my childs library.
