Reviews:
Best ever lenses for sunglasses!
I have owned several pairs of Serengetis with their Drivers lenses over the years & I will never wear anything else if I have a choice. I am very fair-skinned & sensitive to sunlight all around; these are great lenses & worth every penny. The frames are well made also; they provide good coverage for my eyes from any angle. Everybody else can have their trendy "name-brand" shades; Serengeti Drivers are the real deal!
Driving in a new light
The lenses on these glasses are amazing. It really makes driving a new experience.
Don't try and take these out of the car though. Light will leak in on all sides of the lenses and the nose rests will create some nasty glaring on the inside of the lens when you have the sun above your head.
Good lenses but--
quality has dropped in the Serengeti line.
I have owned Serengeti sunglasses for years and have bought many pairs but lately have been noticing a lack of product quality.
The four pairs of Aviators I own have a insentient tendency to lose frame screws. I can't count the number of times I have tightened screws and a couple of weeks later have the screws fall out. Also the eye-pieces or rests that ride on your nose have lately been falling apart.
Right now I have a pair of Aviators that needs screws, a Georgetown and another pair that need nose pieces. The kicker is that these are fairly new glasses.
Bad to pay the price for what you would expect to be excellant sunglasses and have cheap four or five dollars sunglasses have better durability.
Excellent for functional sunglasses
I bought these glasses because I wanted something optically correct (meaning that things don't change shape and/or size when one views them through the lenses), something with a full coverage and a good history. These glasses fit the bill. I use them for flying almost 6x a week and they do a great job of cutting down on the brightest spots while increasing the dynamic range of the light emitted (so the contrast is higher while not being painfully bright). They are durable as well. My only negative is the style, which is unavoidable if you want minimum distortion (if you bend lenses it's much harder to produce a flat image). They are on the heavy side, but I consider that "durable" instead of a negative.
great sunglasses , a little heavy
spectacular lenses , the only thing is they are a little heavy on the face
