Worked for smaller electronics
We recently went to Austria and the Czech Republic, and purchased several of these adapters for the trip. They worked well for recharging cell phones, digital cameras, IPods, and our laptop computer, but we needed a voltage converter set (purchased separately) to operate my wife's hair dryer, curling iron, and kids' Nintendo DS.
If you go to Europe, this is all you need on devices rated for 110-240V AC
This is all you need for any one device to the extent that it is rated for universal voltage of 100-240V AC.
Most existing laptops and other electronics are this way these days but some older devices may come with a 110/240V switch so make sure that you check before you plug your device into the foreign outlet, especially if you do it into the outlet of 'higher' voltage as it happens to be the case in Europe.
On this adapter's features:
- Works as a plug converter on both sides.
- Supports both 2-prong and 3-prong US plugs.
- It is NOT a voltage converter. If your device is not rated for 240V chances are it WILL be destroyed so be careful.
- Do not expect any frills such as surge protection. After all, it's a cheap, simple adapter that does only thing well and nothing else.

As a side note, I was given one of these to keep by the receptionist at a hotel in Copenhagen, Denmark when, to my horror, I realized that I had left my more expensive converter at home. This receptionist's kindness saved me a lot of time and aggravation. It's been my favorite converter ever since and it found its permanent home inside my laptop case.
Perfect for Military CHUs
Not a Step-Up or Step-Down Converter. They are adapters to convert your American three prong plugs to the European two. If used without a S-U or S-D convertor they will allow your product harm. These are designed exactly to fit the electrical boxes and extension cords in my Military CHU.
The ONLY Adaptor to Have
If you need an adaptor and you have the round electrical outlets that use these specific plug-in prongs, this is the very best one to get. The small square ones have their place, but they don't fit snug in a round outlet. With this one you can use a grounded or non-grounded device.
