Improvement on a beautiful beginning
This Edition of The Unforgettable Fire is well worth the money. This was the very first album I had from U2 and I have been a huge fan ever since. The bonus material is excellent and I really love the two new versions of Wire, who wouldn't?! :-) Anyway, great album, great package. Get it.
Dissapointed with late delivery and hidden charges
I ordered these items as a christmas present in November and received it in January and then was charged £12.50 customs charge before it was released.
I also ordered a U2 zip up hooded top again as a gift for christmas and this to came in January and also would not be released to me until i paid a further £13.48 which no mention of these charges were made when i placed my orders.
I was a satisfied customer before this and now i would be very reluctant to use Amozan again,they offered me no help when i tried to track where my orders were other than to say these items have been dipatched.
Very nice box set- must have for the U2 fan
If you love this album like I do, then you need to get this Super Deluxe edition. This little box comes with a small but very nice hardcover book with commentaries, lyrics, and pictures. Also, you get the prints, the second CD, and the DVD. All in all, I'm very impressed, and though a bit pricy, I'd say it's definitely worth it if you love U2.
I am glad this album got remastered. This is not just one of those remasters where you don't hear much difference; the sound is indeed very different here. This classic music is brought to new life. I feel like the instruments are alive in the room with me, not distant and muffled as often heard on the original record... There are parts and nuances that I never even noticed on the original album which I'm glad I can hear now. I'll grant you that there are aspects of the remaster that I'd personally like to change, and I'm sure we'll all have our different opinions in this regard. (In many cases, I feel like I'm listening to "The Edge" with backup from Bono, Mullen, and Clayton-as Edge's guitar parts often dominate the music- I suppose not a surprise, since he is the U2 member who personally contributed to this reissue.) In any event, at the end of the day, the record comes to a whole new life and I'm glad I bought the super deluxe version.
For the serious U2 Fan
I received this deluxe edition for Christmas. I was so excited that I didn't have to go out and buy it, and it was in my hands right away. The box is beautiful and the picture book is well crafted. The rest of the stuff was amazing. You get 5 poster cards with various U2 photos of the days in 1984 and the crown jewel of the set is the B-sides. This has so many treasures that you can't find elsewhere. If you love U2 this is a must have item for your collection. My next purchase will be the "Under the Blood Red Sky" remaster set, to go with the Boy, October and War remaster sets. I have yet to see the DVD but I am sure it is amazing.
