Prodcut Description: [More Information ...]
2009 album from the singer, pianist and actor, an album of cover versions of songs requested by his many fans. Like his best-selling Only You of 2004, Your Songs consists of Connick singing familiar songs with a full Jazz big band and string orchestra, and, as with nearly all of Harry's previous albums, he wrote each of the orchestrations himself. He also recruited two of his lifelong friends from New Orleans, Branford and Wynton Marsalis, as well as bluegrass guitar virtuoso Bryan Sutton, for guest appearances. 14 tracks including 'Mona Lisa', 'Smile', 'Just The Way You Are' and more.

Reviews:

great CD
I bought this CD for my wife. She is a big Harry Connick Jr. fan. She loves this album.

lovely jazz
Your Songs This is a fun CD to listen to. As always, Harry Connick makes beautiful music. I just wish he would play more solo.

Not his best, but not his worst either
In my opinion, the best Harry Connick, Jr. CD's are the ones in which he covers other songs (the Soundtrack to "When Harry Met Sally" and "25" being two good ones). So, when I heard this CD was coming out I was very excited. Unfortunately, this CD is nothing like those. Instead of getting a good dose of songs Harry has changed to meet his style, this is more like Harry trying to change himself to do these songs. They lack just about everything that makes a CD a "Harry Connick" CD. In particular, the music accompanying him was most of the time just mediocre. In fact, at times it almost sounds like he dug an old Casio keyboard out of the attic and pushed one of the "automatic beat selections". Having said that, don't get me wrong, the CD isn't horrible, it's just forgettable. So, if you are looking for an average version of some classic songs, then buy the CD. If you are looking for some good Harry Connick Jr., search elsewhere.

Not the Harry I know but ok
I've been a fan of Harry Connick Jr's for awhile now, I've seen him live in concert, and have many of his c.d.s. When my daughter bought this latest C.D. for me for Christmas I thought "how nice, can't wait to hear it". At first ..when I listened to it, I thought - "this is not the Harry I'm used to hearing" but..after listening a few times, some of the songs "grew" on me but this is not "Harry" music. Even his c.d and dvd of "Only You" was much better. I hope his next c.d. is more true to what he is known for .. his own songwriting and great jazz music. Harry, don't go this way again!

Hard to Listen to.
First if all, I love Harry Connick Jr. but on several tracks on this CD, he is just plain out of tune. I have to turn it off. He has too many skills to let that happen, and where was the editor? Can't they hear he is under pitch? I don't have perfect pitch, but good relative pitch and I know "off" when I hear it. "The Way You Look Tonight" is the worst of all. And while I know he used to sound like Frank Sinatra, I don't like to hear Frank sing, and on a couple of tracks he sounds way to much like Mr. Blue Eyes. Sorry Harry, this is a big "miss" for me. Also the arrangements do not have the great touch his albums usually have with creative accompaniments and rhythms. I won't play it again.
