Reviews:

Lots of learning packed into this one video. A real "treat"
This 30 minute video is packed with information. There are almost 70 kinds of foods shown and many of them have an interesting fact told about them. As an example, for the word "apple" they say the word and show the word spelled out. The narrator says, "Apples come in many colors. They have vitamins and are good for your body. They grow on trees in apple orchards. When they are ripe you pick them and then eat them". Of course, while this is being spoken there are lots of pictures and live-action video of apples (apple orchards, apples being thrown in water, etc). For banana they say, "If they are green they aren't ripe yet. Peel it first". They have fruits, vegetables and "favorite fun foods" which include jello, popcorn, raisins, chocolate chip cookies, pizza, etc. Throughout the video there are kids wearing food costumes and they even show how to make some recipes, like a salad and a fruit dessert. They also include unusual foods like chayote, cherimoya, star fruit, daikon, etc. There is a cute section on manners. It may be a bit old fashioned, but not too bad. They tell you to wash your hands with soap and water, no elbows on the table, don't play with your spaghetti noodles but twist them (LOL!), don't slurp your soup, never chew food with your mouth open. They ask, "who has good manners?" and then show the right and wrong way (such as a girl talking with her mouth full). They go on to say, "don't blow bubbles in your drink" "never reach across the table, "say 'please pass the potato chips' ", "say 'thank you' ", "most foods shouldn't be eaten with your hands", "never lick your fingers or wipe your hands on your shirt", "when you are done ask politely to be excused", etc. As you can probably tell, I got a kick out of this manners section. LOL! But, hey....what kid shouldn't be reminded to be polite like this? You can see that there is a lot packed into this video. I highly recommend it and think it will be quite educational for my young daughter. Read more of my reviews for childrens videos.
