Prodcut Description: [More Information ...]
Learn to play exquisite arrangements in DADGAD using droning bass notes, slides, bends and other guitar techniques that imitate the haunting sounds of harps and pipes. One of today’s most admired fingerstyle players provides invaluable insights into the beauty of Celtic music, along with a variety of guitar techniques: syncopated rhythm strokes, “cross-string” playing, modal scales and exercises for gaining maximum control, speed and fluidity. You’ll learn how to find the notes and chords in DADGAD, and five beautiful pieces: Sligo Creek, Rise Up My Love, New Year’s Day, On Christmas Night and Chesapeake.

Reviews:

The Best DADGAD Instructional Video
I have been playing DADGAD tuning for several years now and have found this video to be the most helpful by far. The video is hosted by Al Petteway, who is a terrific DADGAD guitarist. His teaching style is friendly and accessible, and he shares many valuable tips and tricks for getting that true Celtic sound. He is especially good at explaining the various trills, hammer ons and pull off techniques so important in this kind of music. The songs on the video are first rate. Petteway first plays them at concert tempo, the slows them down and breaks each song into easily assimilated sections. The split screen technique makes it easy to see both hands in action. The first song, "Sligo Creek", is in a minor "bluesy" scale and is a blast to play. The material progresses nicely to Al's beautiful song "Chesapeake", which is in a major type scale. Chesapeake is a complex song with some neat tempo changes and sounds great when you learn it - (in my case after many hours of practice!). I have DADGAD tuning videos from several different artists and video companies, and have found Petteway's tapes to be the most beneficial to my progress in learning DADGAD tuning.
