Excellent Preschool music!
I'd heard all about their 123 CD in Parents magazine and website. At first we weren't to sure about it, but once we watched the video and made visual connections, we're addicted to the songs. Who would have thought the alphabet could be turned into such fun and creative songs? Great one for the car as it has movin' rhythm. Excited about getting the 123 album now.
Fun, Entertaining and Educational
I recommend this to anyone wanting a fun way to learn the abcs. Our family loved it. the songs and cartoons are awesome.
Teaches letters in the wrong order
I had been considering buying this video for my daughter who is working on learning her alphabet right now, so when I saw it at the library I quickly rented it. However, we're only a few songs in and I just had to jump on here and review this DVD. In the "E eats everything" song, they teach the letters "mnop" incorrectly as "mnpo". On top of that, the letters scroll on to the screen backwards, which isn't too big of a deal - not as much as the incorrect letter order mentioned above. But when they scroll across as "tsrq" instead of the other way, it is a bit confusing to my three year old. Also, the "QU" song was a bit obnoxious, I certainly hope that's not the song my daughter ends up remembering from this DVD. When they do the song where they're looking for the hidden letters, they are saying different letters than the ones that are flashing by on the screen at the moment. Which isn't teaching kids much, they learn a letter name - but learn to associate it with a different letter symbol. I also really wish the specific letter songs would have been in order. Like done a song for A, then one for B, etc.
I would highly recommend Leap Frog "Letter Factory" over this DVD. We have never been disappointed by any Leap Frog learning tools. I'm just glad I rented this first before wasting my money on it. I'm giving it two stars simply for the fact that it kept my three year old interested for maybe half of the songs.
Not as good as "here come the 1,2,3s"
I found the "Deeply Felt Puppet Theater" songs to be annoying, and my 14-month old doesn't like them as much as the TMBG songs. Unlike the 1,2,3s, in which every song is good, this one only has a few gems. E eats everything, alphabet lost and found, flying V, and Can you find it? were good.
A great way for kids to learn
I have listened to the two other "Here Come The..." cd's, the 123's and science, and knew that they were huge hits with my girlfriends kids. I thought that for Christmas this would be a great gift for the smallest, who is four and still isn't a big talker. Sure enough, the catchy melody and easy to understand lyrics captured his attention. All three of her kids, ages 4, 6 and 8 love to sing and dance with the songs. I highly recommend it for any young child that could use an entertaining way to bolster their alphabet and comprehension skills.
