These skills, once learned, add lifelong enrichment and pleasure. This tape will teach you the basic steps to these dances as well as several variations and turns. In addition, you will learn proper dancehold and foot positions. Now you can practice your dancing to the tunes of popular Broadway hits such as Cats, Mame, and Fiddler on the Roof as performed by the Gunter Norris Orchestra. Ballroom dancing is also a great way to stay in shape and is much more pleasurable than merely exercising to music. Your instructor, Margot Scholz, brings her experience and enthusiasm into your home as you learn ballroom dancing. She is a member of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance and is the winner of numerous dance competitions. Now, dance your way into fun and fitness with this exciting Introduction to Ballroom Dancing!

Reviews:

Great tape for Beginners
This is a great tape for beginners. It shows you all the basic steps needed to start dancing socially. The steps are timeless even though the tape is a little dated. If you practice each segment on the tape you should feel comfortable enough to get started dancing in public- and that's the key to enjoying dancing. The first time you get on a dance floor you will want to show off your new talents. Buy the tape and enjoy.

Instruction vs. Inspiration
Clear instructions, but with a very "1950's feel". Everything appears very dated, not making one anxious to learn the steps and get out there and have fun. But the movements are well explained and shown clearly.

Excellent how-to-dance tape
Margot Scholz clearly tells us how to dance. She shows the steps slowly at first and then faster with a partner. She covers the basics of form, posture, and leading in addition to the foot movements. She picks good rhythms that are easy to dance to. It is the best tape we found and my partner and I tried a good half dozen. Margot is the best.

Bob
The video is OK for beginners. But there is a problems. They have a lady teaching men's step, and because she is wearing high heel you cann't see the rise and fall of the feet. In certain steps the toe is supposed to land first, and certain steps the heel is supposed to land first. By wearing a high heel you can tell which one is which. Besides her heels are too high for standard ballroom dance. Get Dance vision videos each video is focused on just one dance. They will actually tell you about the heels and toes.

Great for first-timers! Singles or couples.
I have one previous class experience with waltz, but I didn't want to show my face at the local ballroom dancing club without being sure i knew the basics. Since I already have taken a lot of dance I only had to watch it once to get it. However a male friend (we won't mention any names) found it much more useful and helped him overcome his wallflower-itis. It goes very slowly in the beginning and then piece by piece puts the six dances together. Also, Frau Scholz, demonstrated clearly the parts of both the leader and the follower . Though the music is a dull lounge, the 80s hairstyles and dresses (think a b-version of pretty in pink prom) are great and sorta fun to dance along to; There's no way you can look as silly as they do. :)
