Challenge friends and family on an even playing field and call your favorite plays from a simplified playbook, then take your game to the next level by delivering big hits with the help of all-new action icons. You can even field two teams of mascots in the hilarious Battle of the Mascots mode. With arcade-influenced gameplay bringing out all the fun and excitement of Big Play Saturday, and the accessibility of EA SPORTS Family Play, it’s never been easier to pick up and play NCAA Football 09. An all-new Wii-exclusive moves system featuring simplified Wii Remote-based controls makes NCAA Football 09 the most accessible college football game ever. Call plays on both sides of the ball using a simplified playbook featuring 40+ plays or call plays like a pro with the full playbook. When the pressure gets to be too much, hand things over to your head coach and have him call the plays for you. All-new action icons tell you when to tackle, evade defenders, swat the ball on passing plays, and more—all while the play is playing out. A fun, arcade-style presentation throws you into the action faster than ever. With the removal of non-interactive scenes, gameplay begins at the line of scrimmage, and players can join a game on the fly with a press of a button. Hype the crowd with user-controlled celebrations to gain a momentum boost, or taunt friends and rivals after every big score.

Reviews:

Unrealistic AI, poor gameplay
Poor AI and gameplay: the CPU pass offense is unstoppable even when you adjust the sliders. The AI QB will complete 80% of his passes, and the only incompletions are the interceptions which are all too common. Don't expect the CPU to run the ball much either. The speed differential between players is ridiculous and unrealistic - LBs move like elephants. Kick coverage is non-existent...the computer will return your kickoffs to the 40 yd line every time, and if you try to block a punt, expect to be able to return the punt for a TD. Tedious recruiting: having to go thru your recruit list each week of the season is mind-numbing. I liked the old approach of post-season recruiting only. If you have the CPU control the in-season recruiting, you will not get a good class. No 1-AA teams even for this being the 3rd generation of this game for the Xbox 360 - unacceptable. Graphics are astounding, but that is secondary to the poor gameplay. I prefer the speed and smart of NCAA '04 on my old Gamecube. UPDATE...I spent $10 for 2007, and that is much better! Read my review. If you care about gameplay, get 2007 instead. It's not perfect, but better than this. NEW UPDATE...2010 improves the gameplay, but only when you move sliders to the extreme. Still, it's an improvement over 2009's unplayable mess.

NCAA Football 09-xbox 360-newer version not much better
Loved this game. Played it nightly until getting the newer version 10. To tell you the truth--at present pricing and having experience with both--I would buy 09 before 10 for the money they are presently asking for both. Very easy to get started playing and with time the finer points of the game and controller make it even more fun.

fun but nothing great
If you have played NCAA before this year then you know how this works. In fact you have played this game before, it is the same game that it has been the past couple years with few exceptions. The ability to download rosters with actual players names is fantastic addition the online dynasty is nice but that's it.

good game overall
the ncaa football 09 on amazon is very very cheap. i went to gamestop and a used one was ten dollars expensiver. also ncaa football 09 game is great alone. i love the fact that you can download rosters on xbox live so you wont have QB #15.

Great Game but with obvious flaws
I know its sad to say that after all the years of playing i am used to most flaws this game produces year in and year out. One flaw that i can't seem to figure out and I don't know if anyone else has seen it or if its just my game. During a game i went into triple overtime. I took my try and scored then the computer went and scored sending it into yet another overtime. they went again and didn't score but instead of me getting my try they got a third try in a row and didn't score but since they were up by 8 from their 2nd attempt in a row the game ended with my losing by 8 without even getting an attempt to tie the game up. That and the fact that i think to much advantage has been given to the offense as of late with all the high powered offenses these days. I can have the top db recruits every year and still have the absolute worst pass defense rating. (no i'm not they best at this game but defense is where i normally excel.) On the up side though is they made recruiting so much shorter and easier as opposed to talking to every player every week for 15 weeks. Other than this i love this game and can't wait for 2010 to come out and see what it holds.
