Prodcut Description: [More Information ...]
Prudence--the round-cheeked, pony-tailed heroine of Alona Frankel's book of the same name--can provide further inspiration to young daughters with her video adventure. As with her print counterpart, the animated Prudence wonders if her grandmother's gift could be a birdbath or a flowerpot before she settles down to the business at hand. Unlike the book, Prudence gets a grand introduction in the form of a music video of "The Potty Song," complete with toddlers frolicking among portable potties. A lyric sheet is included and moms will appreciate the equality mindedness of songwriter Art Frankel ("Wee-wee goes there / Poo-poo goes there / Then Daddy wipes behind me and that is that!"). The second half of this 24-minute video is a "Parent's Guide," in which a prominent pediatrician goes over the basics: signs of readiness, terms, methods, and expected ages (for example, girls usually train before boys, but don't force it). --Kimberly Heinrichs

Reviews:
I love it
I really need this dvd for my daycare, and they send it on time, and a very good price..
Bottom line: it's outdated, and you will be disappointed.
I am so glad that I rented this from the library rather than had it purchased from here based on mostly positive reviews. The video and animation is very low quality, and they'll especially be bad if you view it on an HDTV. I am annoyed that they recycle the "music video" and show it twice in this very short DVD.. and even WITHIN the video they recycle clips! Very, very sad. If there's any redeeming quality to this, it's the animation portion. I would love to see an updated, expanded, corrected (not wiping/washing hands as other pointed out) version of this, but as it currently stands, not worth more than a $2 investment if found at Goodwill.
I've seen better
I purchased this DVD based on other praise for the DVD, what a disappointment it was when it finally arrived and I watched it with my 2 year old potty training daughter. Like other reviewers say this video is quite short and consists of 3 parts. (1) intro, showing some children playing and using potties (2) The animated cartoon portion telling the 'Once upon a potty' story (3) Live children singing and dancing to the potty song.
My daughter and myself liked the animated cartoon section of the DVD but the other 2 parts with the live children is quite disturbing, my daughter started to cry. The potty song is quite annoying, I didn't find it catchy at all. The children are a bit disturbing due to the lighting, and the way the camera moves about. I hate to say it, but the children aren't that cute either.
If you want cuter and catchier songs my daughter has really taken to all the songs in "Potty Power" --although I have to say that Potty Power seems geared more towards girls than boys. I recommend "Potty Power" over "Once Upon a Potty"
DVD's I own:
1. Potty Power
2. Once upon a potty for her
3. Elmo's potty time
Waste of money
I was very excited when I ordered this DVD. When my daughter and I sat down to watch it I was VERY disappointed. This kept my daughters attention for 2.5 seconds and she loves to watch movies. This was a complete waste of money and she learned absolutely nothing about using the potty .
Once Upon A Potty for Girls
This is the best Potty Training Tape I have found in the past 35 years that I have done daycare. I used this for both of my daughters born after 1990 and both were trained in 3 days with the help of this tape. I use it in my daycare and when the parents use the tape too kids are trained quickly and happily.
