Reviews:

My Personal Favorite
I've been listining to alot of EMBRYO in 08'...previously I only owened "Steig Aus" and a few songs on comp. discs. I have their first nine studio recordings up to "Apo Cylpso" and others "Surfin" is the only one which I listen to every song each time I play it. Side two or the last four songs is especially killer. If your familiar with EMBRYO then you know their vocals are unusal and although six of the eight tracs have vocals their fairly limited, the song "New Riden" for instance has nine total words repeated once with a fast paced rock sitar jam inbetween...cool song! Notice that there are no bonus tracs...the original album stands alone! Edgar Hoffman returns as a guest and does his best work in my opion. On other recordings his musical lines are a bit blurry for my tastes. "We Keep On" released in 73' is a close second but trac five at over 14 minutes drags on to long. So if you want only their best I recomend these two. But to be perfectly honest I was only dissapointed with "Opal" this album recieves alot of hype, but to me it's more of a garrage days, leftover beetnik-jazz and not the "M" word it's tagged with. Surfin' is a much more exiting listen and highly recomended.

Rhythmical and commercial
A very rhythmical work, also very listenable... But I don't like singing, it's a bit "weak". While listening to, you'd wish they don't sing and just keep playing.Musically, it's far closer to fusion than to experimental krautrock, something that seems usual for Embryo after their debut "Opal".Anyway, if you like "Bad Heads", I recommend this, being more rhythmical and not so commercial.
