      Bleach (20th Anniversary Deluxe Edition)

Prodcut Description: [More Information ...]
Marking the 20th Anniversary of Nirvana s debut album, Sub Pop will re-issue the Platinum Certified Bleach on November 3, 2009. This expanded CD will include special packaging & a never-before-released live performance. Originally recorded over three sessions with producer Jack Endino at Seattle's Reciprocal Recording Studios in December 1988 and January 1989, Bleach was released in June of 1989 and remains unequivocally/unsurprisingly Sub Pop's very favorite Nirvana full-length. The album initially sold 40,000 copies, but was brought into the international spotlight following the release and worldwide success of their 1991 sophomore effort, Nevermind. Subsequently Bleach went on to sell 1.7 million copies in the US alone, according to Nielsen SoundScan. This 20th Anniversary Edition has been re-mastered from the original tapes at Sterling Sound in a session overseen by producer Jack Endino. This edition will include an unreleased live recording of a complete February 9th, 1990 show at the Pine Street Theatre in Portland, Oregon. The show features performances of "Love Buzz," "About a Girl" and a cover of The Vaselines song "Molly's Lips" and has been re-mixed from the original tapes by Endino (complete track listing below). A 48-page CD booklet which includes candid photos of the band not previously released to the public will also be included in this deluxe edition.

Reviews:

i love nirvana
This is a great album, and I love that it has the original recorded songs plus the live performance recording from the Pine Street Theater show back in '90. Bought it for my husband as a Christmas gift and he totally loved it. The actual records (there are two) are a white vinyl and both come in a plastic covering (instead of the paper sheets that you usually see with records). It also comes with a booklet insert with some pretty cool pictures of the band. A definite must-have for any big Nirvana fan.

THERE WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER
You must have this AND their "Incesticide" album on vinyl and blast both as loud as you can. It will help vibrate the bugs out of their hiding places in you house! This is what Nirvana truly was before the slick production of "Nevermind" and "In Utero" came along and is true to their post-punk origins. This delux edition is a slap in the face of all the sellers on this website and Ebay that were and are trying to rip off not-so-freakin'-rich Nirvana fans by charging $500+ for an original white vinyl copy of this. To this day, I do not know what kind of crack they were (and still are) smoking.

a great re-issue
It's hard to believe that this album is 20 years old, but it stills sounds as good as it did when I first heard it in 1991. The tracks have been remastered, so they have more volume and punch than the earlier CD releases. The live tracks are an added bonus that any Nirvana fan will appreciate. It comes in a nice tri-fold eco pack and has a photo album in the center, and the CD in a sleeve on the right. The CD cover looks to have been an original Cobain artwork. It really looks nice, and sounds better than ever. I can't wait until Nevermind and In Utero are re-mastered, because I'll definitely be buying them.

The same but different
This CD sound almost the same as the original recording but somehow it feels different (better). If you are a Nirvana fan, buy it.

An embryonic Nirvana...
Don't get me wrong, this is not a bad album by any any means. The first 5 songs on the album are really great Nirvana, it's just not as cohesive as their other works. The live material on here is mediocre, "Been A Son" is the standout. Can't wait for the 20th Anniversary edition of "In Utero!"
