Reviews:

Just what I wanted!
I live in a home that has a radio/tape system throughout the house. Unfortunately, the base unit will only access "tape" not CDs. Until I get it upgraded, I seriously wanted this in tape format. It is great and I listen to it all the time when cleaning house.

enjoyable
I always liked the song Old time rock and roll and when I heard it on this cd, I had to get it. I'm sooo glad I got it. I play it on my PC, my stereos all the time.

Love Bob Seger!
In the early 80's this was my favorite album and I listened to it endlessly. Recently I realized I hadn't one song by Bob Seger in my extensive Ipod collextion and bought a used c.d. of his....and am still thrilled with Bob Seger's rocker voice :)

Great album
I wore out my last copy and needed a new one. This copy is pristine.

"He even sang the parts the instruments were playing."
(4.5 stars) Bob Seger has all the talents of true genius; and just one listen to this album proves it! Bob sings magnificently and he never falters; The Silver Bullet Band performs flawlessly as well. The quality of the sound on this CD is terrific; and I like that artwork, too! These songs are wonderful to say the least, but when it comes to Bob Seger a single CD could never even hope to be a true "greatest hits" collection. With roughly twenty minutes left unused on this CD, why didn't Capitol add an extra couple of songs to this release instead of waiting years to release a second volume of Seger's hits? "Roll Me Away" starts off the CD with an amazing Bob Seger tune; he does this one up right! His voice is in excellent form and he sings with a lot of passion. It's music like this that shows the greatness of Bob Seger. "Night Moves" was always one of my favorite songs; when Bob Seger performs this it truly moves me. Bob delivers this with all his heart and soul; you can really identify with the experience Bob sings of in this number. Bob's excellent diction and phrasing makes "Night Moves" nothing short of a masterpiece; he handles the complex tempo and key changes like a pro! In addition, "Turn the Page" is brilliantly done; and "You'll Accomp'ny Me" lacks nothing--this music is all THAT good. "Hollywood Nights" features Bob Seger outdoing even himself; the musicians play really well but wisely they never try to steal the show away from Bob--he stands front and center which is right where he always belongs! "Hollywood Nights" really rocks; and it's easily a major highlight of this album. "Still the Same" has a throbbing beat that is simply unforgettable; Bob sings this to perfection--and beyond! The piano arrangement is particularly strong and "Still the Same" will always be one of Bob's best numbers. "Old Time Rock & Roll" makes me want to get up and dance practically wherever I am! So many people can identify with this song just as they can with "Night Moves;" "Old Time Rock & Roll" leaves nothing to be desired. Bob bats this straight out of the ballpark--and how's about those guitars in the arrangement? "We've Got Tonight" is a rock ballad that is truly a classic; Bob infuses this with so much genuine emotion that it is another extraordinary number. "Against the Wind" showcases Bob and The Silver Bullet Band giving us nothing less than their usual outstanding musical artistry; this shines brighter than silver and gold combined when they perform this! "Main Street" is another moving tune with a fine arrangement; and listen for "Fire Inside." "Fire Inside" really impresses me--awesome! "Like a Rock" uses the guitars very well in the musical arrangement and "C'est la Vie" has a rockin' sound that I could never tire of hearing. The album ends very strong with Bob Seger and the rest performing "In Your Time;" this will leave you wanting more! This is wonderful for casual Bob Seger fans if they don't have these tracks in their music collections; diehard fans will have these songs already. If you just getting into Bob Seger this CD is the perfect place to start; and adding the second volume of his greatest hits would be another excellent CD for your collection.
