Reviews:

The Only Concert DVD I Own
I had been a fan of Harper for several years before I bought this DVD. I never saw the point of watching DVDs of concerts until I saw another Harper concert DVD at a friend's house. I was entranced. I had to go buy my own. I also never watch movies over again, but I watched this one a few dozen times. If you are a Ben Harper fan, you won't regret buying this DVD. I only wish he would come out with more DVDs of his live shows. As a side note, I think that first DVD I saw was Pleasure & Pain. The reason I never bought it is I felt Harper whined too much about not making enough money. This DVD is more positive.

C-, cant touch Austin City Limits show
how lame life is, my first time seeing Ben is on Austin City Limits, one heck of a show, not just from Ben but at the top of any Austin City show, up there with Stevie Rays last show at ACL. and the show is closed Captioned, even better. But, you cant buy the DVD to ACL anywhere!! not on bens site, on PBS, nothing. I dont want a combined mix of ACL, with other bands, as most of ACL is lame. well most concerts are lame. for me, if your not "ON" then forget it as far as me watching. having seen hundreds of concerts live and vhs and now dvd, not many will hold a candle worth watching. This Hollywood Bowl, you can tell right awat that Ben is not on, not even close. He is was to tight and tense. and the show pretty much never even gets going. sorry, but it jsut doesnt. watch ACL and you cant tell the man is "ON" this night. Ben always seems to have a nervous energy about him, he is a sweet caring man and shy on stage. but sometimes that can work wonders for a show, and ACL! man! he puts so much soul into that show! why WHY isnt it aval on DVD>??? killer shows you cant get, lame ones you can. not cool. Listened with Sennheiser 595's, the best that I have found, had 555 for a couple years they are nice too, but cant touch 595's, pay the dif and see, er I mean hear.

Amazing
What an amazing DVD. Not only does Ben give a great performace, there are a number of great instrumental performances by members of the Innocent Criminals. All and all this is a great DVD, with great songs. This is Ben at his finest. The Malloy Bros did a fantastic job putting this video together. My only complaint, is that at times, Ben's acoustic lap guitar is not quite loud enough, and sometimes the crowd gets a little noisy. Besides that, this is a great buy.

Not good
This DVD is well recorded, good sound and plenty of content but: Ben Harper has been losing his magic with time. His last cd's are not even close to his first cd's, in sound and in mysticism. This show is full of new songs and also full of production, which gives the show a feel of lack of freedom. You dont see him much usingthe weisenborn, one he used so much on his early cd's. He's not much of a showman either, which hurts his songs. This dvd is ok but the bad thing is that Ben has lost his mojo with time, and you can feel it here.

This guy is amazing!
First, this is NOT a review of this dvd... I've only got it on order. But I need to say: I've been a fan of his for a couple of years. This week I saw him in concert at the Fillmore in Denver and was amazed. I WAS in an altered state of conciousness, but I believe this was one of the best concerts I've ever been to, and I think he's one of the best performers I've EVER seen. I've been going to concerts since 1968, so I don't say that lightly. He just really kicked butt!
