Superb Collection
Olivia Newton-John is a multi-talented, multi-faceted performer who has had a career that has lasted decades and covered many different styles of music. This GOLD collection is the best out there in trying to represent all the periods from her career. Olivia's signature song I HONESTLY LOVE YOU was a pop classic and garnered her two Grammys. But it also raised controversy among the country music community as to whether she was truly a country artist as she claimed. And the answer to that is yes, she was. (FYI - the Grammy for I HONESTLY LOVE YOU was for best pop artist.) Before this infamous song Olivia had recorded many albums that were pure country. They were amazing releases and she had hits like IF NOT FOR YOU and LET ME BE THERE. Her country period is represented with 14 songs on this collection. Then came GREASE and Olivia's career took a turn towards definite pop. There were many hits from GREASE and she also released two great pop albums TOTALLY HOT and PHYSICAL. Then there was the soundtrack to XANADU. This period is represented with 18 songs on this collection. The remainder of the songs here are other hits and a super GREASE megamix. The standouts on the whole collection are in my opinion BANKS OF THE OHIO, HAVE YOU NEVER BEEN MELLOW, COME ON OVER, EVERY FACE TELLS A STORY, A LITTLE MORE LOVE, TOTALLY HOT, XANADU, SUDDENLY and THE RUMOUR made with Elton John. Olivia has always been blessed and cursed. She is beautiful and possesses the voice of an angel. She has amazing range and great emotive delivery. But often the prettiness of her voice had people seeing all her music as mere pop and they didn't see the layers beneath. She has always been hugely popular but definitely deserves more critical acclaim. She has covered country, pop and standards and made each genre her own. This collection is a great overview but for each period of her career you are interested in do yourself a favor and get the albums she released at those times. They are all on cd and her albums had some excellent cuts other than all the hits. I must end by saying the remastering here is superb. The sound quality is excellent and I highly recommend this collection.

The Petula Clark of the 70's
If 60's British singing legend Petula Clark had a chip off her block, it came from Olivia Newton-John. Born in Austraila and rasied in England John started out with hits like the Bob Dylan version of "If Not For You" and "If You Love Me" in 1971 and it came just as Clark's hits began to dry up. And by the end of the 70's John started to appear in movie musicals just as Clark did the decade before. I know that I will be getting this CD in the future.

Great CD
Very glad I purchased this CD it has all the songs I like. Its got the rock and country kinda sounds in her earler songs with a hip rock in her later songs. Highly recomend this CD.

Griping aside, the Best Overview On the Market!!!
I understand what all the griping is about - this collection is far from perfect. There are a few tracks which should have been included - the most glaring omissions being "What is Life", "Changes", "Don't Cry For Me Argentina" and "I Need Love", and there WAS room on the CDs for at least three more tracks, but what these other reviews fail to point out is that they finally got it right - this collection rounds up almost all of Olivia's chart entries, some under-appreciated gems, and the previously unreleased (on an Olivia album) "Fool Country" and "The Best of Me" from David Foster's 1986 Atlantic album. And the collection is 24-bit remastered, to boot. Don't gripe, people. Just listen!!!!!

Olivia - Still Great
This CD is a great value. I like Olivia Newton-John's 70s music. Even my teenage son and his friends like the Grease songs. They observed,"She and John Travolta were good singers!"
