Reviews:
"Till my death I will stand by you!
I first heard Kathy Mattea singing Nanci Griffith's hit "Love at the five and dime," on Star Country years ago. And after hearing her name and her voice I just had to acquire some of her cd's. So far this is the only one I have. But I LOVE it. The best song on the CD, though, I think is "The Battle Hymn of Love," not to be confused with the annoying "Battly Hymn of the Republic," I'm learning to play that song (Battle Hymn of Love) on the guitar. I'm actually listening to it as I type this review. And If I ever get married, I'll make sure that song is played at my wedding. Thanks Kathy!
so good I bought it twice
I like this album so much I bought it twice. First years ago on cassette tape and now that I've worn out the tape on CD. Kathy Mattea's best songs are right here on this CD.
Decent album, nothing too exciting
I gave this 4 stars largely on the strength of Kathy's singing [she has a very clear, melodious, and strong voice] and the storytelling. The music itself is not very interesting, I'm afraid. It's definitely country, but very low key. Walk the Way the Wind Blows and Train of Memories are teh best songs on here.
Classic Mattea
Thsi is Classic Mattea and is all about her unique style. Easy listening with thought provoking stories.
Good
This is a good CD, and would be a good introduction to Kathy Mattea if you are unfamiliar with her music. "Love at the Five and Dime"..a song also covered by Nanci Griffith, is a great tune, also "Where Have You Been" and "Train of Memories" are great too!!
