Reviews:
Great musician Very enjoyable from a new fan (60 yo) of Den Talan and The Weepies. Highly recommend. Discovered from an NPR interview. Wonderful CD - but $48.00??? Robbery... Shame on the seller for gouging the price on this CD.
The work is truly unique and fresh from a wonderful singer/song writier. I was in Boulder when she took the prize at the Folks Festival singing competition. Great independent singing and playing on this sophomore CD from Deb Talan. What makes this CD better than her first is that there is a little more diversity of tempo out of Talan's compositions. Some songs gather a poignantly poetic value, while others are a little more upbeat. The CD starts out great, with the first five songs being a great 15-20 minute parcel of music. The last part of the CD has three great songs. Only about one or two of these songs sounded a little repetitive, but hey this is laid back folk, light rock, so what can you expect. Overall this CD is 80-85% excellent! If you get a chance to see Deb in concert, it is well worth it. Even better, check out her live CD "Sincerely" if you can get a copy of it. She also tours as one half of "The Weepies." |
