Reviews:
A must buy If your a fan of Traffic you owe it to yourself to get this CD. Winwood at His Best This collection entitled "Traffic Gold" is much more a history of Steve Winwood. With the tracks "I'm a Man", done with the Spencer Davis Group in his teen years, Blind Faith's beautiful "Can't Find My Way Home" and "Presence of the Lord", on into Traffic's "Welcome to the Canteen", "Low Spark of High Heel Boys" and "John Barleycorn" make this a treasure of classic British rock. Excellent, almost A great all-round selection of Traffic's music. All but 3 of the first album tracks are there and a generous selection from other albums. And it's remastered, and as with all "Gold" releases, the tracks are in chronological order with info on the particular albums they came from.
Greatest Hits albums are really great though when they include rare tracks previously only available as singles - it's a pity the wonderful "Here We Go Round The Mulberry Bush" wasn't included here. You have to buy the first album remaster to get that, and consequently double up on 8 tracks. Uncle DJ's Selects This is a must-have for any avid enthusiasts of Traffic.
For first time buyers, this will provide the "best they is!" The best Traffic hits collection out there There are quite a few Traffic greatest hits/best of collections out there. They can be useful for turning new fans on who aren't really familiar with the band or artist if they're put together well. This one covers the most ground and has the best sound quality. Don't bother with the other "hits" cds. |
