Robbie Williams - Live at the Albert

Recorded before the U.K. release of Swing While You're Winning, Robbie Williams's renditions of pop standards on Live at the Albert are at once delightful and disorienting. It's long been known that Williams is enamored of the Rat Pack, and here he lives out an illusion of being ...

Reviews:

Unbelievable
Let me start by saying that I am quite savvy in the world of music and thought that I had heard or seen it all.... till now. Embarrassing as it is I had never even heard of Robbie Williams until a friend of mine told me that I had to watch this DVD... thanks Kimi :) It sat at my house for days on end and then on a whim before giving it back because I was tired of looking at it on my counter, I gave it a shot. WOW, WOW, and WOW were the only things I could think to describe it. I don't remember ever being so pulled into a show as much as this one. Within about 30 seconds of the first song - "Let Me Entertain You", and what a great song to start with, I was SOLD. I ended up glued to my TV for two hours straight. At the end, I was already humming some of the songs like I had known them for years, so I started it over again then proceeded to purchase several Robbie Williams albums off of itunes and so on. Robbie has the most amazing stage presence I have ever seen. He is confident, a little cocky, yet so humble and appreciative of his fans. An amazing voice, some the most appealing lyrics and melodies I have heard in ages. If you have never heard Robbie Williams, GET THIS DVD! Get the biggest TV you can find, CRANK IT UP, and be totally amazed at the non-stop, 120% that he gives in this performance! What a breath of fresh air!

Robbie Williams - What We Did Last Summer
if you haven't had this DVD and you like Robbie Williams (not necessarally a fan), you have to get this DVD! you'll become a fan in no time!

AWESOME
I agree with all the reviewers about this concert. I love Robbie Williams performances and yes! it puzzles me and I still don't comprehend why isn't he popular in the USA. I travel to Europe every year and that is how I discovered him many years ago. I'm forever in search of music and just like I "got into" Robbie, I had found excellent singers from many other different countries, so if you don't mind listening to music in another language do explore, it is there.... and I'm glad because here in the US we are not producing anything worth buying, so keep up the good work BRITS.,and CONTINUE to produce and sponsor worthwhile singers.

OUTSTANDING
TRULY A GEM. IVE WATCHED THIS CONCERT ABOUT 30 TIMES AND I STILL KEEP ON WATCHING AND ENJOYING IT OVER AND OVER AGAIN, TRULY FANTASTIC I WOULD HAVE GIVEN ANYTHING TO HAVE BEEN THERE, AFTER WATCHING ROBBIES PERFORMANCE WATCHING ANYOTHER LIVE CONCERT IS A LET-DOWN, TRUE MAGIC.

So rock n roll, so corporate suit....
I agree with the other reviewers on this one - this is one live DVD you don't want to miss. It is beyond me why he is not as popular in the States as he is in Europe. Robbie Williams manages to combine his natural presence on stage and rapport with his fans with absolute professionalism. Hence "so rock n roll, so corporate suit", as he sings in Come Undone. You can feel the atmosphere of this temperate summer evening seep into your living room as you watch, and don't be surprised if you find yourself jumping along in time with the songs and clapping when they're finished. I do it even when I'm watching it alone! So: five stars for quality and length of performance, both in terms of Robbie's own talent and the setup of the DVD. Five stars also for addressing a huge audience, because this show will appeal to established fans and convert all those who haven't succumbed to Robbie's energy and charms.
