Reviews:
love this song. wow! she has a strong voice. love all the remixes on this cd.
it has made me love "yaz"!
she has always been underrated. she is a great singer, but did not fit the mtv image. Finally! This was an after thought with this new album of crap.
I must say Ms. Moyet: You've done it. You rock you raspy, throated beauty. Thank you for the dance and the voice. What a beautiful mix. Alf does Dance Music very well Alison Moyet returns with a booty-shaker of a tune. Her first "dance" single since 1994's 'Whispering Your Name', has all of Alison's signature funky rock feel, but has disco sensibilty as well. A very enjoyable song, my only complaint is why wasn't this on the album 'The Turn' physical copies? This song was a UK i-tunes exclusive track that was so good they made a single from it. And because it is so good, it should have been on physical copies of the cd. There are 3 mixes, The Jeremy Wheatly Mix is more rock and has a harder edge, but the Almighty Mix is euro-pop and thumping beats at it's best. The Soul Avengerz Mix reminds me of the remixes they did of Don't Go and Situation in 1999, and can almost hear a mash-up coming. Seriously, buy this cd! Great Song all on its own! Although the special edition of "The Turn" contains "A guy like you" the regular disc does not. I was thrilled Alison released it as a single and I bought it without having heard it. And I am so glad I did!! I like "The Turn", maybe not Alison's best work, but I like it. This single is NOTHING like the songs on the album. It is a GREAT song, very upbeat and danceable. The remixes are just what you would like - extended and up tempo, but both very different. The Almighty version is excellent - but I haven't met an Almighty mix I haven't liked. If I dinn't know better I would have thought "A Guy Like You" was taken from the Essex Album. Do yourself a favor, and buy this disc. |
