Reviews:
LOVE this guy! Found this guy while searching for some other music, and I love, love, love his stuff! It's very jazzy/bluesy/acousticy/pop-py. He's got a very original sound, even on the songs that are remakes. I loaned it to a friend and she loved it too!
Outstanding record This CD is a must listen. Ernie Halter's unique and compelling vocals and musical structure make this a must have for all music lovers. Hints of Blues, Rock, Jazz and Soul all eminate from this melodic masterpiece. Don't miss it!!! A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. says the new fan! For those familiar with Ernie Halter's Lo Fidelity or his live performances, it's no surprise that he has delivered an amazing first album, Congress Hotel, which surpassing those early efforts. Congress Hotel solidifies Halter's indie reputation as a truly amazing artist. From the opening drumline of "One You Need" to the lingering notes of "When the Lights Go Down," Ernie has displayed his uniqueness and talent in every track.
One of the most impressive aspects of this compact disc is that it really showcases Halter's artistic range -- every track is different and "hit-worthy" in its own way. As a new fan of Ernie Halter, I am truly impressed with the diversity of the album. From the bluesy feel of "Better" to the sparce acoustic arrangement of "Lisa," Congress Hotel has something for every musical taste. Even more impressively, each song is strong in its genre - there are no weak performances.
You can easily see why Ernie Halter has such a devoted following in the indie music world, and Congress Hotel should further enhance his reputation as an artist and performer. If you are new to this versatile and talented musician, check out Congress Hotel and you'll soon be a fan, too.
Just a solid album. I just bought the CD after finding Ernie on MySpace [...]. Each song tells a great story, his voice has an incredibly warm tone and the music is reminiscent of another great songwriter, David Ryan Harris. Ernie has his own style though and the outstanding production really shines through on the opening track. Definitely worth buying this disc to not only support a musician who has been honing his craft and pushing the limits of self-promotion, but also to own a disc that delivers enjoyable music from start to finish. Ernie Is The One You Need A wonderful blend of pop, rock, r&b, soul, gospel and latin, Ernie Halter brings listeners brand new takes on some of his most familiar songs. His previous CD, "Lo-Fidelity", was a raw and stripped down take on his originals and some covers, and the new CD is a more polished presentation. There's something for everyone to enjoy on this album, and something that everyone can relate to. "Congress Hotel" is definitely a must have for music lovers.
