Reviews:

Takes you to the Scene
This was a really cool soundtrack! It really takes you into the movie, or the series! It has some great new songs as well as a coupld of blasts from the past. A remake of "How Deep is your Love", the original "Walk This Way" by Run DMC & Aerosmith! Quite a mix of sounds, something for everyone on this album. I would recommend the soundtrack for anyone 13+. This is one you want in your collection.

Gotta get it!!!
This is one of those cd's that you HAVE to have it! For starters-it has FERGIE. The music makes you dance, makes you sing-what more could you want! It gets you going, and has a great mix of a variety of songs-from Fergie to Steve Tyler (Aerosmith) to India.Arie. Not just a "chic" album!

Soundtrack is great fun just like the film!
This soundtrack is exactly the music I'd want with this film. It's full of pop fun with a lot of surprises! Before listening, I'd already heard good things about Fergie's "Labels or Love" and Jennifer Hudson's "All Dressed in Love". I was really pleasantly surprised with the rest of the album! Covers by India Arie and The Bird and the Bee are outstanding! Jem reviews their own track correctly with "It's Amazing". Joss Stone collaborates with Al Green. Plus the addition of Run DMC and Aerosmith to any soundtrack cannot be a bad thing! The soundtrack rocks. It's full of strong performances by strong women! Perfect for Sex And The City! If you love SATC, definitely check this one out.

Something for everyone.
Well, I haven't seen the movie, and have only ever watched 2 episodes of the series, thanks to my cousin Nnenna who was mad about it. My review, is thus based on listening to the Soundtrack alone, without being able to relate it to the movie. What piqued my interest was the Nina Simone remix, the Al Green song, and wondering what Jennifer Hudson would sound like. The music is a mix of genres; Dance ("The look of love" by Nina Simone, very nicely done, and the ambient Chill out "I like the way" by Kaskade, with sparse lyrics), Hip hop/Pop ("Labels or love" by Fergie), Retro Soul (the upbeat horn sprinkled "All dressed in love" by Jennifer Hudson, sounding like something the Emotions would do, and the absolutely brilliant ballad "How can you mend a broken heart" by Al Green and Joss Stone), a few Covers ("How deep is your love" by The Bird & The Bee, "The heart of the matter" by India.Arie, originally featured on her last CD "Testimony Vol.1..."), and an oldie "Walk this way" by Run DMC & Aerosmith. Other standouts are the dreamy horn sprinkled "Kissing" by Bliss, the piano laced R&B/Pop song "It's amazing" by Welsh songstress Jem, the Motown-sounding Pop song "All this beauty" by Folk/Pop group The Weepies, and another favourite of mine, the Punk rock of "New York girls" by Indie band Morningwood (sounds like something P!nk would do). As one would imagine, most of the lyrics are about love, heartbreak, dressing up, make up, and other girlie things, mostly by female acts. However, there is no denying the top notch selection of the music.

Great Soundtrack
Just like the ladies of Sex in the City, the songs of the Sex in the City Soundtrack all bring their own unique flavor to combine into one unbeatable ensemble. This soundtrack embodies what every good movie soundtrack should have: the old, the new and the old with a new twist. It should have diversity along with some cohesiveness. For this soundtrack, the diversity of genres makes it interesting. Some songs on this are good, and some are just brilliant. The soundtrack starts of with Fergie's "Labels of Love", a catchy pop dance tune that embodies all things STC. The soundtrack then does not follow the expected route and continue with more pop hits. Rather, it takes a long and winding path through the story, hitting a plethora of genres on the way. There is a soulful, bluesy song "All Dressed Up" by Jennifer Hudson and an amazing duet with Al Green and Josh Stone, "How Can You Mend a Broken Heart". For the truly nostalgic, there is a hauntingly beautiful cover of "Auld Lang Syne". Then the journey takes new turns. The classic rock Aerosmith/Run DMC classic, "Walk This Way" is included as well as the classics, "How Deep is Your Love" and "Heart of the Matter". These last two songs are my favorites on the soundtrack. These are both amazing remakes of the classics. The Birds and the Bees' rendition of "How Deep is Your Love" is at once familiar and different. India.Arie places her own unique sound on "Heart of the Matter". Again, the songs has not be changed to the point that the very essence of the song is gone, nor is it the same exact song we are used to which we hum along, just with a different voice. Both are beautiful, skilled remakes that actually offer something very new while still preserving the integrity of the song. Keeping pace with the twists and turns of the movie, the soundtrack journeys into the dance music arena with songs such as The Weepies, "All This Beauty" and Morningwood's "New York Girls". Even though many of songs have lyrics that reflect the movie, the true genius in this compilation is in how the songs all reflect the women of Sex in the City: some are slow and sweet, some are fast and clever but in the end, they all enjoyable.
