YUP, CLASSIC GZA. CALL ME CRAZY FOR THE 3 STARS...
...but then again you can't. GZA in my opinion is the best member of the Wu-Tang Clan. He's one of the greatest lyricists ever, and this album shows it. His stories are extremely interesting and give you insight as to what happens on the daily basis in the streets of Shaolin. GZA is not my beef here. He drops his best material ever. My beef here is (drumroll)...................RZA's beats! His beats bored me to tears. I know some Wu-heads are gonna bash me for this, but I don't care. I'm no Wu-Tang head by any means. I'm more of a Boot Camp Clik person anyway. The beats are beyond awful on this release. They did not do this album ANY justice. It's practically unlistenable in my opinion. If the Beatminerz handled the beats, this probably could've eclipsed Illmatic. LEMME BREAK IT DOWN... -Beats are str8 GARBAGE. None of them are memorable. RZA destroyed Liquid Swords. Maybe I'm biased because I never liked ANY of his beats after Enter the Wu-Tang cept for (Guillotine Swords, Verbal Intercourse, and Daytona 500). The best beat on this album is the title track and Killa Priest's track B.I.B.L.E. -If you are into mid 90's classic lyricism, cop immediately, but be warned, the beats ARE THAT BAD. GZA rips every awful beat to pieces if that makes any sense whatsoever. THE FINAL VERDICT... Well, that's just it. Excellent lyricism coupled with god-awful beats. The beats drag out each song, therefore making the album VERY VERY BORING. Brother Ali is similar in that sense. He's a great lyricist, but he bores me to tears. Now, if you feel like leaving a negative comment then here's a middle finga to ya! ENTA DA STAGE>ENTER THE WU-TANG.

Simply hard from begining to end
If you never heard of this one, then just leave, and look up some michael jackson beats. This is the real deal. Everything from the album art to the lyrics to the beats is raw. Still sounds much better than todays music. I still roll hard, down the streets with my 2000 watts of raw power, bumping this album. When I first heard this, I was 13 years old. Now at 29 this is still on top of all my Hop-Hop collection. Not one album has come close to satisfing my brain like this one can! Stay Real.

liquid swords is definitely in my top 5 favorite hip-hop albums of all time.... i'm still listening it today like it came out yesterday. i think gza is the most lyrical member of the clan, and this album outshone the sun in so many ways. apart from gza's lyrical genius, rza's production makes be believe that there's no way that he could've crafted such brilliant beats on his own, plus the usage of classic kung-fu movie samples (although my favorite usage of movie samples is in "severe punishment" on wu-tang forever). i mean look at it, there are a bunch of producers nowadays who struggle to make one banger. rza produced WHOLE ALBUMS of CLASSIC BEATS (ob4cl, liquid swords, ironman among others, imo); i find it hard to believe that he didn't have an army of a production team behind him...

STRAIGHT CLASSIC
THIS WHOLE ALBUM IS STRAIGHT GRIMMEY FROM PRODUCTION,BEATS AND, LYRICS. BUT, LYRICALLY IT'S JUST SIMPLY PUT GENIUS. THE THOUGHTS PROCESS TO CREATE THIS ALBUM FROM TOP TO BOTTOM IS PURE DARK BEAUTIFUL HIP HOP POETRY. THERES EXCELLENT GUEST VERSES FROM FELLOW CLANS MEN WHO BROUGHT THERE A* GAME TO THIS PROJECT. STANDOUT GUEST VERSES ON THIS RECORD ARE GHOSTFACE KILLAH ON 4TH CHAMBER. METHOD MAN ON SHADOWBOXIN' RAEKWON AND GHOSTFACE ON INVESTIGATIVE REPORTS. THE PRODUCTION FROM THE RZA AND BEATS ARE INCREDIBLE. YOU CAN PLAY THE WHOLE ALBUM WITHOUT SKIPPING 1 TRACK. PUT LIQUID SWORDS ON FOR ANYONE THAT HASN'T HEARD IT AND INSTANTLY BLOWS THEM AWAY.

Sharp as a Liquid Sword...
GZA is truly the Genius of the Clan, my all time favorite from the group. The GZA is the most sophisticaed and complex clan member of the group, he is the top 3 lyricst of the group (GZA, Inspectah Deck, Masta Killa). Liquid Swords is a "Classic" album that creates an atmosphere which not a lot of albums can do. This is one of RZA's best productions on a whole album, right next to "Only Built 4 Cuban Linx..." this album is one that will give you shivers while you are listening, its almost like a motion picture for your ears (if you have a good imagination). I Admit that this album took me a while to love. Honestly this is not an album you will appreciate until you listen to it at least 2 or 3 time fully. While this is a classic album , there is no mainstream appeal whatsoever (which is a VERY GOOD THING). I love that this album is considered a mainstream album but at the same time it could pass as an underground album. GZA's lyrics take time to fully understand, I would recommend looking up the lyrics while your listening so you can fully understand what the hell GZA is talking about. I have listen to the album at least 9 or 10 times and I've listened to the whole album, not just single songs. This album is a top 10 of all time for me. FOr all you mainstream lovers that adore Lil Wayne and the likes of him, look somewhere else because this album is too intellectual for people to comprehend and you won't enjoy it. As for the REAL Hip Hop listeners such as myself, its worth every penny, you will not get dissapointed.
