Top Album
I had my reservations after Pleasure P left the group, but they have come back stronger than ever with some great tunes. My favourites are Me And My Guitar,Lapdance,Mr.Goodbar and Prince Charming.
Best Yet
This sizzling quartet has put together a fantastic product. It's probably their best yet. There's not one song I dislike. Favorites include Tipsy,Say A Command, Downtown,Discovery Channel, and Mr Goodbar. My suggestion is to pick this up.You won't be disappointed.
Here we go again...
Pretty Ricky's first album Bluestars generated a modest amount of attention, but I listened to it for myself and really didn't like it because not only did the guys talk about sex in the raunchiest way possible, but they couldn't really rap either. And I felt the same way about their second album Late Night Special. Their third album was supposed to be called Eighties Babies but it got leaked so the quartet had to rush into the studio to record new tracks; also during this time, not only did they leave Atlantic Records, but singer Pleasure P left and was briefly replaced by 4Play before the rest of the group settled on Lingerie (I'm not sure why a man is calling himself "Lingerie", but...). Now, the group released their self-titled album on their own label, Bluestar Studios.
Before I get into reviewing the album, I feel I need to clarify something. It's true that I also gave their first two album one star, but I am not biased against the group; in fact, by reading my reviews, you can tell that I really did listen to the albums. Anyway, the problem here is the same problem the other albums had: raunchy sex tales combined with terrible rapping skills. I still can't tell the difference between Diamond Blue (who produced the entire album) and Slick `Em, but whichever one of them is rapping the third verse in "Tipsy (In Dis Club)" sounds crazy because he suddenly changed from talking about doin' up a girl to beating down somebody.
But there are worse songs than that, like "Smash" and "Doggystyle". And if you can't figure out whether "Sticky" is really about sex or if it's a metaphor about rolling trees, guess what: it's both. "Say a Command" is about cybersex but songs about that went out of style in 2000; also passé is comparing sex to candy, like in the disgusting "Mr. Goodbar" (the guys even mention R. Kelly's Chocolate Factory on here -- more on that in a minute).
And speaking of that, they once again rely on dated material to get the mood right, like "once you go black, you never go back" ("Black"); and the corny "Discovery Channel (Wild Girl)" is a metaphorical tale à la R. Kelly's "The Zoo" (from Double Up), complete with animal sound effects -- but the song's ending is pretty sad too, with "we gon' get wet like the Weather Channel". By the way, their own similes aren't great either, as evidenced by "Ménage a Trois", where "leave that p purple like Barney" sounds more painful than sensual. And the chorus to "Lapdance" features Lingerie saying "I'm not a freaky guy". Really???
As usual, the guys don't sound the greatest the few times they DON'T talk about sex either, as shown by "Prince Charming" and "T.R.U.T.H."; and Lingerie's solo "Downtown" would be tolerable if it wasn't for what's he's saying. Actually, I just named all the songs. Pretty Ricky might be more interesting if they had better skills and more varied subject matter. I rated this album one star and it's hardly worth THAT, so leave it alone.

Not the same Pretty Ricky....:(
I'm sorry, but I have to say that Pretty Ricky is just not the same without Pleasure P. I LOVED the first 2 Pretty Ricky albums...every song was a hott track. I listened to the samples of this album and quite frankly the only song I was feeling is "Tipsy in dis club". Lingerie or whatever the man's name is just doesn't cut it. By the way....Pleasure P's solo album is realllyyyy good, go cop it! ;)
Better than expected
If you are a fan of pretty ricky's music then you probably would like this album also. I must say there is a bit of doubt and jumping to conclusions (before even listening)which usually happens when a group changes. This is a pretty good album, some of the songs take some getting used to. Good album!
Tipsy(in dis club), Menage A Trois, T.R.U.T.H., Lapdance, Discovery Channel(Wild Girl), Prince Charming (and others)
