Prodcut Description: [More Information ...] Truth-in-packaging regulations are strained to the breaking point--some previous work with a former band was pretty darn "best" too--but if we're talking about Macca the Singles Artist, this compilation does highlight the many sides of a celebrated melodist, bandleader, and hitmaker--from the banalities of "My Love" to the electrifying buzz of "Jet." It won't win any stylistic cohesion awards, and followers will miss album tracks like "Picasso's Last Words" and "That Would Be Something." But All the Best collects the more popular Wings hits and throws in some necessary rarities ("C-Moon," one of many great B-sides that McCartney has thrown away), star duets (former friend, now-Fabs copyright-holder Michael Jackson on "Say Say Say"; Stevie Wonder on the inevitable "Ebony and Ivory"), live cuts (an un-Chipmunked "Coming Up"), and soundtrack odds and ends, like the freaky Bond theme "Live and Let Die." --Don Harrison

Reviews:
Exchange Two For Two And Digitally Remastered Would Be Great Remove "Junior's Farm" and "C Moon", add "Maybe I'm Amazed" and "Take It Away", then remaster it in 2007 terms. If they did this it would literally be a perfect 'best of' compilation. Enough said... I'll buy it then... Well played Mr McCartney! When compiling this retrospective 'best of' compilation Mr McCartney wisely ignored all of his output from his ill advised stint with the Beatles and selected songs purely from his solo career and his other band Wings. Let 'Em In, Mull of Kintyre and of course the Frog Chorus are true classics not to be missed. Get it now! Difference between UK and American recordings.. The american version of this CD differs from the UK version by 4 songs.....UK version includes Mull of Kintyre, We all stand together, once upon a long day and Pipes of peace....the American version exludes those 4 songs but includes juniors farm, uncle albert, goodnight tonight and with a little luck.
Pretty Good Good CD on the whole. Though I would like any CD with Live and Let Die on it. But is it just me, or is Coming Up the worst Paul McCartney song ever recorded? It's like fingernails on a chalkboard to me. Ebony and Ivory is awful tired and seems to come off as some form of pandering, though don't ask me to what. Take those two dreadful songs out and you have a solid CD. Love it! I love the Beatles as a group. Paul McCartney has a great voice and the choice of hits are my favorites. |
