Clean family humor
This is a nice compilation of some of Bill Cosby's best stuff. However, if you have other CDs of his, it might not be worth getting this one. It does have the "best of," as the title states, but many of the clips are abbreviated versions of what's on his other CDs. All in all, though, if you're going to purchase only one Cosby CD, this gives a good cross-section of his funniest skits.
best? of bill
As a long-time Bill Cosby fan, I was sure my family would enjoy this cd, which they did. Although (IMHO) it wasn't the "Best" of his works, it was sufficient enough to persuade my teens that they wanted to see Bill Cosby perform at Lincoln Center next month. The downside was not having visuals, since so much of his humor is communicated via his facial expressions. Overall, a fun listen for the family while riding in the car.
Some of "Bill's best" comedy bits
This is a collection of some of "Bill's best" comedy bits and is hysterically funny and clean!
Classic humor for the entire family
When a coworker of mine, Moses, named his first-born male child Noah, I was reminded of the classic Bill Cosby comedy routine. Of course, Moses is too young to have heard it, so it made a great gift.
It is amazing that Cosby's humor survives the decades and still elicits laughter. What a trip down memory lane.
I really enjoyed this DVD.
He's That Good
I found this CD on a search for two specific skits: the Noah skit I remember hearing during my childhood from a record my best friend got from the library, and the one my Mom keeps quoting where Cosby says his first child popped out of the womb saying, "Hello, my name is Erin, and I love you both" (to her parents). Well, at least I found Noah.
The CD is hilarious. Cosby is hilarious. His sense of timing, his use of exaggeration, effective pauses, the whole package. I was barely even aware that he was a stand-up comedian before "The Cosby Show", but now I get it: the show grew from his stories, from his skits. The Fat Albert cartoons grew from the skit at the end of this CD. ("skit" is probably the wrong word, but you know what I mean) Listen to the CD, and you'll get it, too. The man is GOOD.
The reason I docked him a star is the sexism toward the end. Most people probably wouldn't notice, but I get really offended by stuff like that.
