Reviews:
One of Ken Andrews's greatest succeses.
This one's up there with Fantastic Planet. If you enjoy Failure, you'll get into Year of the Rabbit immediately. I did. The album is less lengthy than Fantastic Planet, but the layout of the tracks creates compelling song-to-song movement and an overall musical cycle with few weak links. The opening, "Rabbit Hole," drops you off into that dark, swirling void, and by "Strange Eyes," the fourth track, Andrews begins painting his classic anti-brilliance with long-stranded vocal melodies and gems embedded in buzzing guitar. "Say Goodbye" is the droning finish that leaves you overwhelmed but mildly hungry for another trip down the rabbit hole.
For any fans of Hum, this is a great (and much needed) introduction to the clouded sonic ecstasy Ken Andrews. As its own project, Year of the Rabbit experiments with a few departures from Failure. The result is excellent.
polished, and amazing
this is a feel good cd. its very well produced and recorded. the song writing is top notch and its gravly underlooked. its speaks for itself.
Another master piece by Ken Andrews
I tip my hat to Ken Andrews. This is nothing like Failure, another great band with Ken, and that is a good thing. Year of the Rabbit has all these hooks that just keep you wanting to hear more. It's a very addictive album. It's poetic and honest.
So So Effort
I liked the first third of the album, but after a certain point it all started to sound the same to me. Reminded me of some of the more average moments of Failure. I listened to it strait through this morning, so perhaps it works best in small doses. Make sure you give it a listen before you buy.
Ken, you did it again man!!!!
I love this album! So awesome! I don't think there is one song on here that I don't skip! Please make a second album guys!!!
