Johnny Adams Sings Doc Pomus: The Real Me

"You loved me and you left me / Now you're laughing 'cause I'm still in love with you." That simplicity and directness runs through all of Doc Pomus's songs; the soulful and anguished voice of Johnny Adams does the rest. Recorded soon after Pomus's death in 1991, The Real Me bril...

One Foot in the Blues

On this album, silken vocalist Johnny Adams utilizes the large, instantly likable sound of the Hammond B-3 organ, played by the instrument's dean, Dr. Lonnie Smith. Adams cuts through the organ's cloud of sound like a deep-voiced preacher whose words come out sounding like talk b...

Reviews:

no such thing as a bad Johnny Adams album
Great blues selections by Johnny Adams on this CD. His voice is so smooth and melodious. Pleae note: this CD is a compilation of "blues" songs recorded by Johnny Adams from his Rounder Records CD's, so if you are planning ot buy them all, then this one becomes superfluous.

Really good!
This is a "full" 5 stars brilliant blues album. You cannot really ask for any better than this. Johnny vocals are top of the range and with the great Duke Robillard taking the lead on most of the tracks this is just a must have album for all the real blues fans out there. If you are really deep into the blues do not hesitate and add this one to your collection, you will never regret it.
