Quick and Simple
I was very impressed with the simplicity of the techniques on this video.
It was very straight forward. I can't wait to try them out on my soon to be born baby.
Works like a charm! (But only for the the first 3 months.)
This book really helps. Our baby was not extremly fussy, but enough to have to use this method. It works really well and within seconds. It stopped working once our girl approached her 3-month birthday, which is too bad but just confirms Dr. Karp's theory about the fourth trimester. Highly recommended.
Really does work!!
My friend attended a seminar with Dr. Harvey Karp and purchased this DVD. She loaned it to me when my daughter was 6 weeks old and didn't sleep well in her crib, waking up about every 2 hours. We watched this video and implemented Dr. Karp's techniques that night. We swaddled her, turned her to side-lying, shooshed, and laid her down in her swing. We didn't use the 5th "S", sucking, because she did not and continues not to like her pacifier. She slept 6 hours straight the very first night. We continued using Dr. Karp's "5 S's" until she was 3 months old, which is his recommendation. We continued all the same techniques except starting the swing when we placed her in it to sleep to acclimate her to sleeping without the rocking motion. After a few days of sleeping in a still swing, we laid her down in her crib and continued all the other techniques until she outgrew them. We have never had another issue with her sleeping through the night except when she is teething or has a stuffy nose. I have loaned my copy of this DVD to all my "first time mom" girlfriends and intend to implement these techniques on my second baby as soon as she is born. These techniques are very simplistic but effective! Thank you Dr. Karp!
They Should Give a Copy Before You Leave the Hospital
Perhaps the most helpful and valuable information available for calming a newborn. Dr Karp's techniques are simple, easy to learn and effective. I recommend his book and/or DVD to all my friends who are expecting.
