Reviews:
1960's Music Shopped for the best price and this set is awesome. Listen to the cd's quite often. Just bloody great and a wee bit more....yancyd of TN THE GOOD MUSIC DAYS What can I add to what allready has been said by other reviewers. I grew up listening to every song on these cds and Im glad I did. Music was great then! Young people now have no idea what they missed. I guess you had to be there. THE BEST MUSIC OF ALL TIME I grew up with the britsh groups and these cd's just brought back so many wonderful memories for me. i put these songs on my ipod and listen to them daily. Disappointing and disjointed This set tries to cover too much ground, too many years and costs too much with too few songs. 50 minutes a cd is ridiculous for a box set of old songs. Has some nice songs though but sort of covers more than one era as far as I'm concerned.
If I were doing this I'd have a box set that didn't go beyond maybe '65. That earlier era, dominated by the pop side of the Beatles and bands like Herman's Hermits, Dave Clark Five, Searchers, Seekers, Mindbenders, Them, early Zombies, Freddie and the Dreamers, Peter and Gordon, early Animals, etc. deserves to be looked at sperate from things like Nights in White Satin. We will soon have a reissue of the Dave Clark Five hits and I will put together my own collection of early pop British Invasion followed by a collection with the bluesier stuff from the period. It's hard for me to go from Mrs Brown to Heart full of Soul on one disc. Although this disc doesn't do that exactly, it does it in principle. Just what my husband wanted for xmas We were watching channel 13 concert showing the groups from these cds. My husband wanted to pledge $ to get them. I then ran upstairs, went on amazon, found them and ordered them for x-mas for a fraction of the pledge. My husband was surprised and thrilled. It is his kind of music. |
