Prodcut Description: [More Information ...] Purple with rage, The Mummy roars his way through 60 minutes of cartoon adventure, straight from the Kids' WB television show's archives. Young Alex O'Connell and his archeologically inclined parents race to undo a few excavation faux pas: resurrecting the mummy Imhotep, unearthing the Book of the Dead, permanently clamping the Manacle of Osiris onto Alex's wrist. Only the Lost Scrolls can help. An exhaustive search exposes this glam family to skeleton warriors, hungry scarabs, and huge shark-toothed sand worms. It's a Jonny Quest- meets-Indiana Jones extravaganza in which kids endure, supernatural evil creatures happen, and corny jokes abound. This "feature-length adventure" merely streamlines the series' first season, bridging together episodes 1, 12, and 13 with snippets and helpful narration from deleted shows. Cool effects, stimulating animation, and an engaging story that propels the O'Connells around the globe (in their personal dirigible, no less) should thrill 8- to 13-year- olds. The DVD version includes episode 6 as a bonus. --Liane Thomas

Reviews:
Fun for Everyone Not having seen any of this cartoon series based on Universal's feature film, "The Mummy," I was surprised at how much fun this was to watch. With all the characters from the film transformed to animation, the basic sense of fun and adventure remain.
The cartoon, however, centers around their young son, Alex, who unknowingly becomes the target of "you know who" when his mom and dad unearth an ancient bracelet holding secrets. It will take Alex and his parents from Cairo to Paris, across the sands on camel and through the sky in a dirigible.
That same sense of fun and adventure that was so prevelant in the film runs throughout this enjoyable animated feature. There is just the right mix of danger and wise-cracking to make for a good time.
Those who enjoy the occasional cartoon feature will like this one a lot. And kids will certainly gobble it up. An enjoyable time-killer that won't bore parents looking for something to watch with their children. Good stuff. |
