Reviews:
rhythm of the saints paul simon is always great to listen to no matter how old you are or his music. lots of catchy rhythms in this one. Oldie but a 'Greatie' I have lots of Paul Simon CDs and recently purchased 'Surprise'. It was OK but when choosing it I happened to read some reviews for The Rythm of the Saints. It took me about three 'plays' to start to enjoy it but I think, next to Graceland(his best in my opinion) this is great music and as described by another reviewer, really has that South American beat. I play it in my car driving to work and 'bop' along to it and arrive at my destination feeling great! Strong Follow for Graceland I've had this album for years, and everything that Paul Simon did up this point. Graceland was explosive, it rightly won record of the year (Grammies) for both '86&'87 and introduced many folk, including me, to world music. Simon is complexity. If you believe that good Science results in more questions than answers, this is the path. He makes it lyrical. Check out Hearts and Bones. Van Gogh's sales weren't so great for a while... great music and i love it I have always liked this album and so there is no surprise on why i rate it so much .. but why just a 4 and not a 5? the music is great but i am not happy about the quality of the CD i received .. the sound quality is ok, but the CD looks like a cheap quality and not like an original one .. the edge has some black shades or marks and it does look like a cheap imitation .. i wish that that i had purchased from music shop.. but i may not have got this price .. anyway, i should have checked first .. Simply the Best This is simply the best Paul Simon recording. The true masterpiece. The songs. The musicianship. The emotions. The depth and layers of production. All incomparable.
It is one of the best collections of "popular" compositions you can play on a sound system. It goes beyond categorizations.
It never gets old, nothing is artificial, its just solid as a rock. |
