Reviews:
If Only I love this book. It's funny, well-written & filled with common-sense stuff like "7 Reasons to Leave the House Each Day." If only I'd had this when I was a Rookie Mom. At least I have it as my mainstay baby shower gift. Every mom I've presented it to loves it. Wish I'd bought it sooner!! My son was 7 mo. old by the time I found this book, and I'm kicking myself for not having picked it up sooner. It's packed with age-appropriate activities for mom and baby, things that really would have come in handy on those "I'm tired of staring at the new baby but afraid to try something new" days. Moss and Flett are funny, witty, adventurous moms with loads of creative ideas. This week's favorite (for my now-10-month-old): #200, Give your baby a pickle. Hilarious and handy. I'm buying this book for every new mom I know. great book! this is a great book to give as a gift to a new mom. i wish i had this book when my first child was born! Not What I Expected This book is not what I expected it to be. It's full of suggestions for what to do when your baby is asleep. This is a bit laughable to me. One of them suggested trying on all of your shoes, deciding which ones 'no longer fit your lifestyle,' and giving them away. I think this could cause depression as one at least wants to think that there is a future for those high heels again at some point. I expected more educational and age-appropriate suggestions for stimulation of my child, and there are some of those. But it spoke to a different demographic I think; perhaps it's right for the isolated, suburban or country-living stay home mom who feels lonely at home and has lots of time to kill. But for me, life is so busy just taking care of the basics. I wanted a book to give me ideas for creating fun for my child and this just wasn't the right thing for me. I returned it. Great gift for new moms I love to give this book to all my new mom friends. I feel like this book is written by real moms for real moms. I LOVE IT!!
