A Transforming Score
I am not one to ramble on a review, so here it is. . . This score was great. Jablonsky does a wonderful job of making a score that uses the themes of the first movie and making the songs still new and fresh. The score has several songs that I enjoyed completely: "Prime", "Matrix of Leadership", "I Rise You Fall", and "Infinite White." This score is more emotional than the first and these songs in particular show it. Jablonsky has made a score that uses the themes from before, and brought them to a whole new level. This score is definitely one that I think should be recognized as a great score, therefore, I give it five stars for continuing the Transformer legacy from the first film, while making the score more powerful emotionally, and giving it great music for the battle sequences. The variety in the styles of the songs alone should be enough to attract anyone to this fantastic score.
A solid score despite the average film
This score is a solid piece of work that appears to take elements from various artists such as Zimmer, Rabin, and Gregson-Williams. There is a great deal of similarity to scores of "Gladiator", "Armageddon", "The Rock", "Crimson Tide", "Enemy of the State", and "Spy Game". If you enjoy any of these scores at all, you will enjoy this score despite the less-than-stellar film.
score would have been great, except for all the skips!
Every piece of the score had skips, not one went all the way thru without a skip somewhere in it ... most multiple times.
Good music!
No over critical, super analyzed review of this soundtrack here. With me, if I go to a movie and like the music, I buy the soundtrack. And that's what I did with the score to Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. With scores like 'Forest Battle' 'I Rise, You Fall' and 'Prime', it's worth it. Just like the first Transformers film score, Revenge of the Fallen is worth having in music collection. The Transformer theme is now down in my most favorite themes of all time, as it should be. It's great music from awesome films!
Mediocre at best....
The first movie's soundtrack was amazing, I loved just about every minute of it. The same applies to RotF's, except...in many places it fell short of epic and into the world of mediocre sci-fi nonsense music that sounds more like typical ambiance to fill in the cracks. The new themes I enjoyed, but I can't find a reason to really buy this album for everything that it's worth. Like the movie, it's missing something, a something I can't really put my finger on; but it in no way feels complete.
