Prodcut Description: [More Information ...] Mixing 'Sci-Fi-Hi-Fi 04', Lars aka Funk D'Void had a tough task ahead of him following three incredible chapters from Ewan Pearson, Luciano and Alex Smoke. Ever the perfectionist, Lars has gone above and beyond with a mix that takes the series up to the next level. "I think this is the best mix I've ever done", he tells eagerly. Funk D'Void's mix showcases his vast musical background, presenting us with a combination of tracks intricately pieced together in aural delight. Keys blend together harmoniously and elements combine almost to create whole new tracks through his mixes alone. The opening mix of Itamar Sagi's 'Black Gold' and Lars' own mix of Beroshima's deeper-than-deep 'Horizon' is so extensive at two and a half minutes it's almost as if the two tracks were made as one.

Reviews:
Perfect melodic techno The Sci-fi Hi-fi series on Soma has quickly become one of the best mix series out there, and it is unique in their approach to dance music. However, I felt compelled to write a review for this CD, because it not only reached my high expectations but exceeded them. Funk D'Void is a techno producer par excellence, and his recent production, particularly White Light with Phil K, has the driving melodic edge that attracts me so much. So, I was very interested to see what kind of mix he would put together. Indeed, melody is key element here, but the rhythmic timing and the superb mixing take this mix to the next level. Also, it's not really a fast paced mix; it takes you deeper instead, so I'm sure many people would call this deep house instead of techno. I'm not sure how this mix was put together, but it is literally flawless. The cover artwork of kaleidoscopic images ties into how this mix reverberates. The main CD I would compare it to would be John Selway's Lightwave on Journeys by DJ. If you like this type of music, I think you'll be pleased to find this is a mix you'll be listening to for years to come. |
