Twentythree

A couple years ago, San Diego singer-songwriter Tristin Prettyman was a competitive surfer. These days, she seems to prefer staying out of the water but still under the stars. Her debut album seems custom made for sunset-hour clambakes and bonfires on the beach, a swell of acoust...
Hello...x
Hello...x

Hello, Tristan Prettyman's second album is an appealing portrait of this freewheeling San Diego, CA, native as she narrates stories about her life, loves and heartbreaks in her seductive, smoky alto. With laid-back melodies springing from finger-picked acoustic guitar, plaintive...

Little Voice
Little Voice

For many listeners, Little Voice will be their first exposure to this soulful singer/songwriter, but it's actually Sara Bareilles' second record. Her first, the self-released Careful Confessions, led to a deal with Epic. Since then, Bareilles has opened for Marc Broussard and Mar...
Sleep Through The Static
Sleep Through The Static

Jack Johnson recorded his fourth album using nothing but solar power. This is somehow fitting for a singer-songwriter, surfer, and filmmaker who spends most of his days floating in the ocean under Hawaii's open skies. The forces of nature certainly seem to have found their way in...
Fate Is the Hunter
Fate Is the Hunter

With a face like Liv Tyler and a winsome voice that recalls early Joni Mitchell and late Fiona Apple, Kate Earl shoots right out of the gate with a couple of genetic advantages. And that's even before you consider her vocal shape-shifting, her audacious jazz chanteuse poses and t...
Coco
Coco

Even without MySpace, singer/songwriter Colbie Caillat is sure to have found an audience, but her oft-accessed page accelerated the process, mostly on the strength of the effervescent "Bubbly." On her first full-length album, the California native conjures up clear skies and warm...
Pocketful of Sunshine
Pocketful of Sunshine

On Pocketful of Sunshine, Natasha Bedingfield sounds like Joss Stone only bouncier. Nothing wrong with that. In fact, the brightness and buoyancy of this record will keep it spinning long after CDs that shoot for hipster credibility--with funked-up bells and fancy production whis...

Reviews:

An auspicious start...
I first heard Tristan Prettyman on a local music program on 91X here in San Diego. I instantly fell in love with her sound and began looking around for where to find her CD. At that point, it was only available on her website or at a small, neighborhood record shop. I bought it immediately, and soon memorized all the lyrics -- it just connected with me at that time of my life. Though the quality of the recording wasn't great, the music itself was just beautiful. I am glad to see it is now available through Amazon. This, along with the fact that her next album was released through Virgin Records, will hopefully help Tristan make even more great music in the future. I can hardly wait to see what's next. Definitely worth picking up!

2003 Independent Debut
This is her first release in 2003 on her own Love Records. 7 tracks with a nice organic setting for her vocals, guitar and songs. Nice sparing backing from a few friends as well.
