Prodcut Description: [More Information ...] A lonely trumpet solo and a narrator sporting a Jersey accent set a somewhat ominous, Godfather-esque stage for this stylish, 35-minute lesson about courage. But fear not: it's a VeggieTales story after all, and it soon kicks into action. Based on the Bible story of Esther, "just an ordinary girl" who becomes queen of Persia, this animated retelling tosses in the usual cup of Veggie humor to lighten the flavor of its very serious message. Esther, a young green onion, cannot understand why she has been chosen to wed King Xerxes (played by the humble pickle, Mr. Nezzer). Her cousin Mordecai (Pa Grape) assures her that God must have a reason; she soon discovers that her entire family's fate rests upon her ability to show courage under pressure. While this particular tale drops many of the comical sing-along aspects of other favorite VeggieTales (such as Dave and the Giant Pickle and Where Is God When I'm S-Scared), its strength comes from its story line; its rich, inspired artwork; and its impressive musical score. The creative team at Big Idea continues to produce quality Christian videos for the entire family. One quibble: there's no "Silly Songs with Larry" segment. --Liane Thomas

Reviews:
Excellent for Christian homes This movie is very good. Most of the Veggie Tales movies are filled with valuable lessons and packed lots of fun. Get this one for your child. Yes it isn't exactly like scripture, but still a great movie. Not as funny as most Veggie Tales, still fabulous This movie, while not as funny as many of the Veggie Tales, is wonderful. It does a great job of telling the story of Esther. The music is beautiful. If my children take nothing more than the song Esther sings, "The Battle is not ours..." then I will be content. Thanks to Big Idea for presenting this in a manner that people of many denominations can use it to teach their little ones to depend on the Lord. VeggiTales My six year old grand daughter loves Veggie Tales and this was no exception. The 2 1/2 year old asked to watch it too. Veggie Tales are always a good choice for teaching values in life. veggie tales rock!!!!!! I love the story of esther it help do what was right when i new i was afarid too. A good story but a little confusing.. I liked the messages of this video - stand by your family and don't be afraid to do what's right - but the story was a little confusing. My family loves Veggie Tales and my kids watch them almost daily but this video wasn't as good as some of the others. |
