Prodcut Description: [More Information ...] Limited two CD edition of the Swedish Metal band's 2008 album housed in a box and including a guitar pick with printed band logo, a double sided poster, a sticker and a bonus CD containing four tracks: 'Seize The Day', 'Narcotic', 'Versus' and 'Devolve'. It all started in July 1996 with the demise of seminal Swedish melodic death metal band, At The Gates. At this time, guitarist Patrik Jensen (ex-Seance) was looking for members to start a new project. At The Gates drummer Adrian Erlandsson, a good friend of Jensen's, saw the opportunity and seized it. Jensen and Adrian's first rehearsal took place on the 28th of July in ATG's old rehearsal place, where Jensen and Adrian jammed out on some of Jensen's material as well as some old ATG classics. Before long, ATG's Anders and Jonas Bjorler joined the fold, on guitar and bass respectively. Today, The Haunted continue to deliver their fresh blend of aggressive yet hopeful innovative Thrash Metal to fans worldwide. Century Media.

Reviews:
Still at the top of their game The Haunted return triumphantly with "VERSUS". I strongly recommend Going with the limited edition as it includes a few extra tracks.
When Peter Dolving returned to the Haunted and recorded the vocals for "rEVOLVEr", we were all torn away from the vocal style of Marco Aro. While I will say that I very much anjoyed both: "Made me do it" and "one Kill Wonder", I loved "rEVOLVEr" more than both previous albums. I'll state here that, up to the point when Marco left the band to peruse his career in another band called Facedown, I still favored the self titled debut alot more than the later albums. I guess for me it's because I think Dolving delivers in a way that is more emotional, heart-felt, violent and stronger than most other metal vocalists. So... up to speed.
the album opener is the first song they released on thier websie, called: "Moronic Colossus", The lyrics jump in quickly and the album begins with a full-on assault. Great guitar leads, solos, and fast paced lyrics completely illuminate this song. Good stuff.
The next few songs, "Pieces" "Little Cages" "Trenches" and "Ceremony" are just as powerfull as the album opener. A little more clean vox mixed with the more agressive run throughout. Multiple vocal tracks are more prevalent here than on the earlier albums. It's nice to hear a chorus that has more life to it. There are a few moments when you'll want to chant along with the chorus. and for all you Hard-Core fans out there. There's a couple of neck snapping break-downs, but not to many that it gets old at any point.
"Skuld" is the first slower song on the album. It serves as the perfect rest break before the the last half of the album. Great guitar melody and distand vocals ring from left and right stereo channels. Peter's lyrics: ominous and forboding. The slow millitaristic drums are excellent and accent the bass perfectly.
"Crusher" brings the album back up to speed with a very unsuspecting "2, 3, 4..." shouted from angry lungs. Followed by a barrage of lyrics spilling deadly quick with hatred in toe. More intricate and pefectly hand crafted metal musicianship here.
"Rivers Run" is slightly slower at first and then picks right up. More clean vocals and great tempo as the song progresses. Peter begins to tell yet another story. One of the best vocally delivered songs on the album.
"Iron Mask" has a perfect intro and flows into my favorite song on the album. A very personal and angry song, written for someone special I'm sure. Heavy as hell and the last mid paced song on the disc with the exception of the album closing track.
"faultline" and "Imperial death March" wrap the album up with great leads and guitar shreding
The bonus tracks on the limited edition include, "Sieze the day" (one of the fastest songs in this recording session), "Narcotic" (a great mid-pacer and worthy of being an excellent b-side), and the album title track ( for some reason not on the regular version) "Versus (instrumental)" is very reminiscant in style with "The Program" from previous album "The Dead Eye". and finally "Devolve", a f***ing amazing song. kind of punky but immensely and insanely fast. I love the dilvery of the lyrics in this one.
Lastly... Anyone who truly enjoyed the last 2 albums, "rEVOLVEr" and "The Dead Eye" with surely love the newest album to a great roster of discs from these Swedish greats !!! Way to go guys. Please work on the next one already.....
