Reviews:
Hyland's High Points - Not Too Many GYPSY WOMAN is a classic. This 1970 summertime hit is atmospheric, hypnotic & a perfect pop single. It beats the original version by The Impressions. The rest of Hyland's material is lightweight pop and teen ballads. The 60's material is very teen idol oriented. THE JOKER WENT WILD is a good record, but that's the most rockin' it gets on this " best of " CD . Too bad that most of these songs are not the buried treasures I had hoped for. Being the 60's when the greatest pop music was made, his songs & the production are not long last classics waiting to be discovered. He didn't have too many big hits, and I could see why with these melancholy ballads and soft pop. The only other real hits are SEALED WITH A KISS, GINNY COME LATELY, LET ME BELONG TO YOU, and of course the ITSY BITSY TEENY WEENY YELLOW POLKA DOT BIKINI, which the Billboard Top 100 Chart book lists as a novelty song. Most of the other songs are chart misses that went nowhere , because they are not very good! He didn't write his own songs either. Hyland is low on the totem pole of all the 60's solo male artists. Not at all essential , unless you loved him in the 60's. Brian Hyland Greatest Having always liked Brian Hyland, We have his CD playing often as dinner background music. Solid Entertainment One of the best CD's around. This guy is a true talent with a wide array of styles and vocals. Buy this CD. Last gift
I just bought this CD for the father of ours two daughters , he is Elvis fan number one, but he was always talking about Brian Hyland, now that he have not much time I want to give him this CD. I hope he like it Too much remastered The music and the album are great. But I had a couple of more albums of Brian Hyland. I played same songs from the same starting points. The sound on this album is flat. It is cleaner but flat. Not a good remaster. |
