2009 sophomore album from the British trio. Wild Young Hearts is a set of sleek Pop songs steeped in Soul, dizzy on Disco and harking back to the days of Blues and Jazz greats. From the galloping Funk grooves of first single 'Don't Upset The Rhythm', to the joyous, jazzy title track, the stomping Electro-Rock of 'Saturday Night', the glorious `60s-tinged Soul of 'Never Forget You' and the sultry, shimmering pop of '24 Hours', in Wild Young Hearts, Noisettes have made what is set to be one of 2009's most adventurous albums.

Simply irresistible!
This is the album that Amy Winehouse would have made if she could sing (or stay straight, whichever came first). Unlike Noisettes' earlier releases, which emphasized the punk side of a punk-soul mix, Wild Young Hearts beats a path straight to Motown's door, stopping to pick up a Blondie wig along the way. A little bit schizophrenic, but jumping with unbridled joy, Wild Young Hearts beats a disco rhythm one minute ("Don't Upset the Rhythm") and Bristol-like stomp ("Never Forget You") the next. An unpretentious breath of fresh air, singer / bassist Shingai Shoniwa will snap up your eyelids and feet alike. Wild Young Hearts is simply irresistible.
Wildly Underrated
The lead female vocalist has a unique, very-rare sound. Her music is free flowing and almost sounds vintage. She is very similar in looks and style as Janelle Monae. When a reviewer of her album listens to the music and watches her music videos, they get a taste of what she wants to put out there to the world. Strictly listening to her album may make a listener think, 'what is she talking about.' Her music video for Never Forget You is briliant. She has fun with words and finds a way to play them without being mainstream. Her greatest on here Don't Upset the Rhythm (Go Baby Go) and Saturday Night. There is only one "3 star" song. The rest are four and above. Her talent is unique which gives her 5 stars in my book.
Great music from across the pond!
I saw the Noisettes's video for "Never Forget You" on the VH1 Soul channel and was totally impressed!! I knew I had to go and buy the album! My favorites are "Don't Disturb the Rhythm","Never Forget You" and the title track "Wild Young Hearts". Shingai Shoniwa's voice is superb. This album is a must have.
Just Wonderful
So the u s 'album' is bit different than the
u k version. Still, it's waaay better than most of the
current stuff out there. A throwback to old rock and roll.
Of coures, any band that gets on Letterman is usually
just great. I watch the show many times just to
help 'keep up' with 'new'music. Take it from an old DJ-
you will love this album.
I LOVE THIS BAND, but the US version is messed up!!
In short, buy the import ONLY...why??? Because Universal US took a song off, "So Complicated", and changed the track order.
Unnecessarily.
I HATE when they do this...the UK version is fine, 11 tracks, a certain, specific track sequence...I was waiting for the US release to get the album at a reasonable price, plus bonus tracks may have been added...then again, the same thing with this happened with Amy Winehouse's "Back To Black", where Universal US took the song "Addicted" off...
Problem is, no one knows in advance what will happen with the US version, PLUS the US execs probably think, "Oh, no one knows who they are in the US, no one will notice".
Yeah, well, I NOTICED!!! Eleven tracks down to a measly TEN??!!?? And the original sequence is ruined, changing the mood and feel of the album. Frustrating...I could have bought the import MONTHS ago, but I waited, and when I saw the US CD, I freaked out!! I hope this doesn't happen with Pixie Lott's US version of her album either!!
Nothing against this band, I think they're awesome, "Never Forget You" is a great great song, and Shingai is an awesome singer & bass player...we became quite friendly at the Siren Festival in Coney Island 2 years ago...so I was SO looking forward to buying this...now, I only want the import.
Sorry for the 1-star review...but I had to get the word out as a warning...5 stars for the album, 1 or zero stars to Universal US.
Nuff said.
