Reviews:
Im not from Bmore So I only hear Bmore club mixes off of CD. Kswift has some PG rated radio mixes that are cool. Science Faction has a newer Aaron LeCrate mix thats ok. Diplo has a tight bmore mix on his mad decent cd. Balmore loosies is ok. This CD kinda splits all the styles down the middle - so its the best of the bunch.
For the uninitiated... Anybody who is curious about Baltimore club music could find this to be a decent introduction to the genre. It's split into two separate mixes. The first half of the disc is done by Aaron Lacrate. I'm not in the least bit familiar with him, but he does an admirable job showcasing some of the most recent tracks. The 2nd half of the CD, by Philadelphia's Low Budget is, not suprisingly, more impressive skill-wise & manages to work some old school club in the mix along with the new joints. Both DJ's have a couple of exclusives as well, with varied results. The instrumental exclusives are pretty hot, but the several tracks featuring MC's Amanda Blank & Spank Rock are a problem. Amanda Blank is tight. She spits a X-rated, rapid fire flow that will have you pressing reverse. Spank Rock, though has a voice & style that I just can't appreciate. I not feeling this dude at all. "BMore Gutter Music" is decent & considering that this type of music hasn't broke outside of the general area that it originates from, it's 1 of the only choices of CD's that are available outside of Baltimore. Amazon also sells Baltimore native K-Swift's "Vol.6: The Return", which I have to recommend instead of this. It is more representative of what's playing in the clubs in Bmore right now. This isn't weak by any stretch of the imagination, just not the best. |
