Best of Janis Ian: The Autobiography Collection [Read More ...]
Review: Great CD:I have totally enjoyed the Janice Ian Autobiography CD. I bought the CD to have a copy of my favorite Janice Ian song "At Seventeen" and found that I liked her body of work over the years. The song "Society's Child" I found most interesting considering it is a song abou...

Review: Simply the Best:This is not only Janis Ian's best album, it is the best album I have ever listened to. I am not really a fan of all her other work but this album breaks the mould for her. The recording is first class. If you listen to this CD, make sure you turn the volume up. It...

Souvenirs: Best of Janis Ian 1972-1981 [Read More ...]
A singer/songwriter both celebrated & decried for her pointed handling of taboo topics, Janis Ian enjoyed one of the more remarkable second acts in music history; after first finding success as a teenager (in the mid-60s), her career slumped, only to ente
Aftertones [Read More ...]
Janis Ian, Aftertones:Delicate, sensitive lyrics which characterized Ian's early work. I was glad to find them in CD form.
Folk Is the New Black [Read More ...]
Description: Who are the great songwriters in America today? Not the most popular. Not the richest. Simply the greats. Ask any student of the form, and Janis Ian will be counted among them. The writer of Jesse, a song recorded by so many others that few remember Ian wrote it; Stars, poss...
Society's Child: The Verve Recordings [Read More ...]
Review: Ian in the darkest moments:Janis Ian was a child prodigy, her bio says she was reading at age 2. Janis at adolescent hung out at NY Folk centers, and was whirlwinded with the times of early '60s. Her first wide-eyed YES! was watching listening to '50's stallwarts like Dave Von Ro...
Live: Working Without a Net [Read More ...]
Description: In the mass of singer/songwriters that seem to surface weekly it is easy to forget that older masters of the craft still walk among us and offer vital work. Janis Ian’s brilliant 2000 release God & the FBI got lost in this glut--more’s the pity. Working Without A Net sums up ...
Restless Eyes [Read More ...]
Review: "Under the Covers" for the "Freedom" Movie.:"Restless Eyes" is a surprise fan favorite. In 1981 Mare Winningham starred in a tv movie called "Freedom". Janis wrote 6 pieces for that movie and most of the soundtrack. "Dear Billy", and "Sugar Mountain" were covered by Mare, and a...

Review: Excellent primer for Janis Ian:As far as I know, this is the earliest album by the great Janis so consider yourself blessed. The title song is haunting and is worth the price of the used CD by itself. As of this writing the CD can be found by Amazon as used for $7 or so. A real b...

Billie's Bones [Read More ...]
As Rolling Stone says, "Before there was Jewel, there was Janis Ian." The singer-songwriter shows off her skills with a Dolly Parton duet and a "co-write" with Woody Guthrie.
The Bottom Line Encore Collection [Read More ...]
Bottom Line huge disappointment:There should be a WARNING with this CD of the horrid audience NOISE that interfers with her singing. And the applause is way over the top, hooting and whistling makes the cd hard to listen to. I am hugely disappointed.
