This is a serious book. Probably the best book about running there is... period. It is no just a training Bible (with running schedules that vary in weekly mileage), it also educates you... it has a great deal of information regarding the science, the reasons, the why's and the how's of the great running universe. If you need to get better, this is the book for you; if you need to improve your times dramatically, this book will tell you how to do it (and if you have the body and determination and discipline, this book will get you there). Keep your running goals realistic... but give this book a chance, chances are you'll be surprised.

Paul Pfitzinger's "Advanced Marathoning"
This book is exactly what the title says - for "Advanced Marathoning". While the other books tell you how to complete a marathon, this book tells you everything you need to know on how to race a marathon and to help you get a PR in your next marathon. Since I have read and started following the advanced schedules in this book, fine tuning my training as I went along, I have had several PR's. Over the course of one year and three marathons, my PR has jumped thirteen minutes. It has gone from a 3:13 a year ago to a 3:00 and I honestly hope to run a sub three in my next marathon. This is the best book, I have ever read about marathon training and would highly recommend that anyone who is serious about the marathon, buy it!

As advertised
The book Advanced Marathoning includes all of the information you would expect in a book with that title. The authors do a great job of taking scientific information and pairing it with real-world application. There are also featured "elite" marathoner sections of the book with information about their successes and failures. Overall I would recommend this book to anyone who is serious about improving not only their performance in marathons, but also their understanding of what actually improves their perfomance.

One of the best books on preparation for running marathon
This book really did provide me the guidance that I was looking for. Following the guidance from this book I broke 3 hours in my 49th marathon for the first time being 46 years old. Thank you.

The secret to getting more from... well, not less really.
I love this book. Having floundered around for years trying to finally be able to run a sub-3 marathon, this book enabled me to focus my training, understand exactly what I was doing and, in the end, got me over the finish-line in 2.57. In fact, the training programme (18 week, 60 miles or less per week) got me into such good shape, I ran a 100km only 21 days after the marathon and finished in less than ten hours.
