Reviews:
nice watch Not quite sure about the chinese watch comment. Looks pretty good to me! Nice weight to it as well. Not too heavy, not too light. The detail in this watch is fabulous. Highly recommended. A Chinese watch, pretty, a bit gaudy, but good value...? This is a Chinese no-name brand. However, for the price, you are getting a lot of watch, and if the style is what you like, go for it! Just don't be suckered into thinking this is an expensive Swiss "time piece". Chinese manufacture is not per se a bad thing, but as with many Chinese products, quality control may be excellent or may be very shoddy, and availability of parts and repairs is likely to vary as these brands and sellers appear and disappear. The watch forums show that this company is paying attention to customer service and - it at least one credible post - seems to be taking extra steps to insure repair customers are taken care of well. However, prospective buyers should search the Amazon reviews on these watches carefully - not just this watch but other models - they will discover a host of quality control issues with this company. Many take exception with what they find is deceptive marketing and pricing done by this brand. In particular, the true origin of these watches is never honestly stated. I think the country of origin should not be hidden, but instead revealed somewhere in the ad, because that type of information is useful to the watch-buying public. The ad copy for this watch is intended to make the buyer think this is a swiss watch. There is lots of malarkey about "traditional Swiss techniques" and "Swiss heritage", "Swiss watchmaking" and "antique German machines". This is a $150 watch to wear and enjoy, not an "investment". The artificially inflated prices are posted to mislead unsophisticated buyers into thinking they are saving big money on these low-cost Chinese watches. There is no "investment value" in this "Stuhrling time peice"! (spelling from the other review) Do not be fooled by some of the glowing reviews - if you look at many of the 5-star reviews carefully you will begin to see they are posted by shills for the company. Check the strongly positive reviews for this watch brand- you'll see they follow a common script. Just what he wanted!!! My fiance has been looking at watches for about 2 years. We have had to watch all the watch shows on TV, but he is very frugal and had not bought one yet. I decided to surprise him with this one for his birthday, and without even knowing it this is the exact one he had been looking for. The quality and collectibility of this time piece is worth the price. It is a skeleton watch with a little style along with the ability to see the precise and intriguing workings, unlike most that are just about what's going on in the inside. The packaging it came in adds to the knowledge that you have just purchased something that will be cherished for a long time. Everytime he wears it I catch him just staring at it and then I know all the research and money was worth it!! We will definitely be investing in another Stuhrling time peice in the future! |
