I purchased this scale in 2006 prior to surgery that was going to screw titanium screws into my pelvis. Since my investigation of the failure rate on this operation depended on a healthy bone mass, so the threads would not strip and fail, I wanted to have a confidence level regarding my bone mass. Since this scale gave me a normal rating for my bone mass, its information was worth the price of the scale just for my peace of mind. Making an adjustment each year for my age, and following a healthy life style regarding diet and exercise, this scale has done a consistent measure of all the factors the scale provides. It's results have been verified by a "Life Line Screening" Bone Mineral Density (BMD) Osteoporosis test recently and by the success of the 2006 operation. Because of the consistency of results for over three years now, and verification by related medical authority, I consider this scale to be an excellent addition to my own yearly health monitoring.

Cool but Not Durable - Not worth 100+ bucks
We purchsed this item about 18 months ago and while we did like the features and look of the product, the durability was a dissapointment. After about a year, the product stopped working intermittently. We tried changing batteries and all that stuff but it would still just stop working for days at a time and come back to life without any rhyme or reason. After going through that for about 6 months (I'm a very patient person) I finally had enough and launched it today. For 100+ bucks I expect more, and would not purchase this product again.

Too complicated for computer-literate 60+ senior
Instructions are confusing, complicated & come in 2-pamplets (with many languages)so user must use both pamplets to determine how it works. I returned it & will purchase a simplier model with weight & fat % options. Perhaps product is more suitable to a techie, athletic type person.

Great healthy lifestyle tool
I recently began using the Tanita body monitor. It provides a comprehensive set of parameters which help me gauge the progress I'm making in managing my health. Rather than simply telling me my weight, it gives me much more insight into the composition of my weight- bpdy fat %, water weight, body age, etc. I now have a much clearer picture of the results of my diet and exercise. I highly recommend it.

Top of the Line BIA Monitor
I'm very happy with this purchase. Tanita is a quality company as well. I've spoken with their customer service and it's top notch. The documentation which comes with the monitor is also thorough and includes many languages for use throughout the world. I've had my scale now for about 4 years. I've never had any problems with it. Some bad news. If you're waiting for the price to come down, as it does with most tech products over time, don't hold your breath. I paid about the same price 4 years ago as it's going for today. Since this is the best on the market for home use, the price probably isn't coming down anytime soon. This scale is an awesome tool to track your body fat% and body water% which operate conversely. Raise your body water and lose body fat (and vice-versa). So if you want to lose weight, drink more water! Also, since it's possible to have a low body fat% but still have high levels of visceral fat, (which you can't see inside your abdomen), this scale will keep track of that as well. That's important since visceral fat is an indicator for lots of chronic problems such as heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, etc. And the DCI (Daily Caloric Intake) and Metabolic Age functions are fascinating to say the least. All in all, this isn't just a scale.
